R45
G'day, Me again. I have a stick of VS512MB400 Lot #0431053 that is faulty from since being opened. I've tested it on a variety of systems, it caused one Windows system several STOP Errors and constant reboots (That was on a Gigabyte GA-8IPE1000-G with an Intel 3.2GHZ Prescott CPU). Other systems (With varying Asus and ASRock boards) had similiar errors. Finally I tested it on another Gigabyte GA-8IPE1000-G with an Intel 2.8GHZ Prescott with Linux, which gave several segmentation fault errors. I tried memtest86 and it froze on Test #3 (As in caused the computer to crash). I have several of the VS512MB400s which work fine with all these systems, this particular one is a definite dud. Please advise.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 1, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 1, 2004 Please make sure that you have the latest BIOS for your MB and load Setup/optimized default settings, and try the following BIOS settings; VS512MB400 Advanced Chipset Features (Ctrl + F1) DRAM Clock: 200 MHz Configure Dram timing by SPD: Disabled/User define SDRAM CAS Latency: 2.5T SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3T SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 3T SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 8T SDRAM Burst Length: 8 Frequency Voltage Control CPU Freq: 200 Memory or Dim Reference voltage: 2.7/2.75 Volts (+.2) AGP Voltage: Default *unless you have ATI 9200 or 9600 then 1.6 Volts suggested!* All other settings should be set to default settings! Then please test them one at a time with http://www.memtest.org and let’s make sure it's not some other issue! I would run the test for at least 2-3 passes to be sure!
