Awesomeo
Hello, I have an approved RMA for this problem, but as shipping is user-ended, and I have to ship it to the netherlands I wanted to check if anyone could help here before shelling out a quarter of the cost of the unit on postage fees. My H100i is hooked up to a stock-clocked Intel 4670k, housed in a Corsair 250D ITX case. For those of you familiar with the case's set up, the radiator is against the dust filter, with fans mounted towards the inside of the case, pulling in fresh air. I've got a riser card on my MoBo (impact) so I can't have fans against the filter as the tubing presses on the IO. Things were going fine, temperatures were icy, but then things changed. Now, corsair link shows the H100i's liquid temperature as 50*C under any sort of load. I had a two week holiday, where the system was completely powered off in a 25*C room, but on first boot after my return the unit was quoting a 40*C temperature. Even with no load, next to a bowl of ice, fans on full, the radiator doesn't budge below 40, and the processor is running 50-60*C+ just sitting around. Can anyone suggest anything, or do I have to front the cash for an RMA return? Thanks!
antonyfrn
Have you thought of removing the cooler giving it a good shake in hopes it shifts any trapped air back up to the rad also check that its seated correctly. I know there basic things you probably have done already seems high I've not seen my coolant temp above 30C-32C
Awesomeo
Reseated a couple of times, gave the unit a good shake but still no luck. After running extra fans through the the rad disconnected, after boot it was reporting 30 degrees, but after an hour of playing XCOM it's now: And above! Awesomeo
is the back plate fitted correctly? Yeah, at least I'm fairly certain. It was running icy a while back, and temperature transfer doesn't seem to be an issue - The liquid temp matches CPU quickly. The TIM is spread out nice and even across the whole surface as well, which at least shows it's making good contact. if you shake it,you will have mixed temps, even constant higher temps, this is the worse thing to do on these hydros how to fix?,,, all i know is get your pecker out and use it. now that we have composed ourselves:D: peck on the block and see if the temps change,if they do then its trapped air... I hope that pecker is some sort of technical term for a thermometer? If not it's going to be an awkward manoeuvre to fit my nether regions against the CPU block in an ITX case. I don't have any way to measure temps other than the included sensors unfortunately. I've set up an express RMA now, which will at least save some money on packaging, and as I won't be desperate for the return unit to get there I can spring for a cheaper delivery service. Awesomeo
Just thought I'd update in case anyone runs into this problem in the future. After setting up an express RMA, my replacement unit came in a week's time - I ordered at 10PM GMT/BST, 9AM PST/PDT on the Monday, the unit was dispatched from the Netherlands via UPS on the following Monday, and with me in the Midlands the next day. The replacement comes as a retail H100i. I just swapped the radiator out, giving the CPU lid a rub down with some isopropyl alcohol, left everything else in the box. My problem was instantly solved, which proves it was the rad/pump, not the bracket, mounting or installation. My rad is now at ambient, my CPU is delta +4 at idle, +30 at load. Apart from the length of time it took to dispatch the unit - which I was told was in stock at the time of setting it all up - I'm really impressed with the RMA process. The only thing Corsair could do better is have a paid return delivery included!
