Corsair Link won't launch

Hi guys,

I have a H100i and it's been working fine (with Corsair Link) since I got it. The problem started today.

Basically I wanted to take a look at my settings in Corsair Link, so I opened it. It said something about an update which I did (didn't really pay much attention). Then the issue started.... the fans are now louder (I presume it lost my profile, as I always ran them on quiet mode) and I can't open Corsair Link at all!

When trying to open I'm met with a .NET framework error (can provide if needed). The application actually runs in the system tray but won't open fully, and doesn't appear to respond to me selecting 'quiet mode' etc from there.

I'm presuming updating Corsair Link also updated the firmware, which is where the issue has come from. I've tried installing older version of Corsair Link, which hasn't helped.

How do I roll back the firmware of the H100i without being able to access Corsair Link??

Hopefully someone can help as my machine sounding like a harrier jet is really getting annoying.

Thanks.

I've had look around but haven't been able to find a solution to my problem. I think rolling back the firmware will do it, but I can't find a way to do this without using Corsair Link.

Anyone? :[pouts:

Have you tried reinstalling/update .net Framework?

Have you tried deleting the temporary files created by the LINK software?

I've repair installed .net 4.5.1 but I'll uninstall/re-install now.

If you mean the temp files in appdata\corsair then yes I did then when trying different versions.

Unfortunately that hasn't made a difference. I even tried uninstalling 4.5.1 and installing .net 4 but no change. As I said, Corsair Link just crashes with the below in event viewer. I also tried system restores to go back before I updated the Corsair stuff, which did not work. That leads me to believe it is the firmware update that has caused this, as that would be unaffected by a system restore I presume.

So I'm hoping someone knows how I can roll back to the previous firmware version....

I tried looking for the CD that came with the H100i (if there was one...) with no luck.

I need some way to roll back the firmware without Corsair Link. Maybe I'm going to need to raise an official support ticket?

my H100I did not come with a CD. I downloaded the corsair link from this site.

I always download the second one down since it shows fan speeds ect ect

I just tried installing that version, same thing.

I've tried disconnecting the USB which doesn't help the situation either. It's definitely showing up in device manager, and disappears when unplugged so it's not a detection issue.

Here is the .net framework error:

Which version of Corsair Link are you using?

Honestly ive had nothing but issues with 2.5.5145 and 2.6.5214

so I just said screw it and stayed with 2.4.5110.

At least in 2.4.5110 I can rename my fans without crashing the app, turn off tool tips and they stay off, and make the program start minimized.

Nope, I tried that one too. As I've said, I'm pretty sure this has happened due to the firmware update but apparently there is no way to roll it back without Corsair Link...

FWIW I'm havnig the same problem. "Unhandled exception" error upon opening CorsairLink correct?

Ive tried both windows 8.1 compatible versions with no luck. All versions of .NET are installed. Been looking for a fix but have had little luck. Will let ya knw if i come up w/ anything.

ah - your a genius. (i think :P)

I was trying to remember how or when this happened considering it did work when it first arrived. It asked me to update the firmware however, and i did... and this is what i was left with.

hows about a self extracting firmware installer corsair?

I saw someone's post in another thread that through Link is the only way, which is totally pathetic!

Corsair, can we please have a usable installer for firmware 1.0.5 please?

PS - I've got a ticket raised with Corsair support, I'll let you know if I get anywhere with it.

Have you gotten any response so far?

I have the same problem, strangely enough when I format and install the Corsair Link starts fine and I can create profiles and such, but the moment I restart the program never launches but the controller still runs, so I created a few profiles and use them in the system tray.

I wasn't even able to get that far. No matter which version I install, I can't get it to launch fully. The best I've got is that it's running in the system tray but it does not respond when I try to change default profile from there.

Corsair have suggested I RMA the unit, which is stupid...I haven't decided whether to bother yet.

What do you mean by disconnect?

okay I'm going to just get down in the floor to do this hang on even knowing it's connected right still not working.

hows about a self extracting firmware installer corsair?

apparently there's no support on this forum, so good luck with that one.

mine came on this morning showing zero fan speed and locked up my pc twice this is frustrating.

Well I been more than frustrated, I'm out raged with this piece of crap and if the PC locks up that means it's working right as corsair thinks.

my H100I did not come with a CD.

And you'll continue doing so until you buy something that's more reliable, and buy that using you stock Heatsink.

does the software load properly?

by that do you mean removing that ugly CL image that sits in the middle of the screen when you first start ya.

I've had look around but haven't been able to find a solution to my problem.

Look as you may there's no solution, the only solution it to crush the aluminum and bring it the the scrap yard for some money.
