Do these things really have a lifetime warranty?

My old and dear XMS2 (DDR2-800) kit has unfortunately died. One of the sticks fills the memtest86 log with errors and makes my windows BSOD daily. I still have the receipt for them, which is now 6 or 7 years old. Since I can't afford to replace my system and another good kit costs almost as much as an 8gb DDR3 kit around here I was wondering if Corsair still honors their warranty and how I can contact them directly in my country, since I don't expect the retailer to move a finger for me.

All of our DRAMs are provided with a lifetime warranty granted that the module or kit is purchased from an authorized reseller. Just as Lady Fitzgerald has mentioned, submit a ticket here and attach a copy of your invoice/receipt.

How does one know whether a reseller is authorized or not? I got burned on a camera card warranty claim several years a go when the manufacturer claimed I didn't buy it from an authorized reseller yet nothing on the manufacturer's website gave the slightest hint on how to know if a vendor was an authorized reseller or not.

I've never understood why any warranty, not just Corsair's, is extended to only those items purchased from an AD. If an AD goes out of business and sells its stock, are those items warrantied? Does the mere act of the original purchaser selling something to another suddenly make it inferior and, therefore, renders it unworthy of a warranty or are there counterfeits out there that negates Corsair's responsibility? Maybe it's just the lawyers and their fine print?

And in closing, I apologize for airing the above frustration of mine.

You danced around the probable reason when you mentioned counterfeiting. In the case of the manufacturer I mentioned, that was just a dodge to weasel out of honoring the warranty since there was no way to know who was authorized or not and they worked hard to find that shaky loophole.

The link appears to be broken. I can get there but the list won't show up. I've been having a lot of problems with corsairs website overall. Addresses keep changing, for starters.

I just noticed that too. I've submitted an IT ticket for that. Thanks for the feedback.

As for your warranty question, it's best to contact our Customer Service for more information.

Thanks for your answers, I have opened a ticket and attached the receipt. That list above is kind of weird though: there is only ONE authorised reseller in my whole country, one that I've never heard of before. The store where I bought them from is still in business and is probably first or second in sale volumes around here.
