NumberedJester
Hi from a newbie. Over the last couple of days I have built up my first PC. Everything is working fine (I think) but I do have one query. When I set a small video to render in Sony Vegas 12 my CPU (i7 4790K) temp shot up to 74-78oC on the Corsair Link software and mid 65-70oC on Gigabytes System Information Viewer. Would this be about normal, or should I remove the block and use an aftermarket thermal paste? Attached is a pic of the completed build.

snapper69
Check that the thumb screws are tight enough, they should be finger tight plus 1/4 to 1/2 a turn with a screwdriver. The TIM on the H100i is (so I'm told) Shin-Etsu which is an excellent TIM
iflo
I wonder if Sony Vegas uses AVX instructions? Check the voltage on your CPU when it's rendering and see if you get a 0.1v bump...
