EndianX
Hi there. I recently bought 2 512meg sticks of memory from corsair. I started to see some data corruption (failed checksums and such) so I took someone's advice and ran a program called Memtest86. I got a bunch of errors so I decided to try each module seperatly. One stick has no errors, the other has 24 after the first pass. My system runs fine on the stick with 0 errors, but with the both sticks, or just the broken one, I have a number of problems. What do I need to do in order to get a replacement? Thank you, - David Tucker -
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 29, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 29, 2004 Can you tell me the exact model# of your memory module and the make and model of MB you have along with the CPU speed and it’s FSB as well? In addition, please tell me if you have the latest BIOS installed on your system and the bios settings you have set for both CPU and memory and any performance settings that you may have set? Model#: VS512MB400 MB: ASUS P4P800 se CPU: 3.20Ghz, 800Mhz FSB All BIOS settings are default and I am running the most recent version. If there are any specific settings you would like to know, I will try and find them for you. Thanks, - David -
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 17, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 17, 2004 Please make sure that you have the latest BIOS for your MB and load Setup/optimized default settings, and try the following BIOS settings; VS512MB400 or VS1GBKIT400 Advanced/Jumper Free AI over clocking: Manual CPU Freq: 200 DRAM Clock: 400 MHz Memory or Dim Reference voltage: 2.75 Volts System performance: Standard AGP Voltage: Default *unless you have ATI (9200 or 9600) or NVIDIA (5200 or 5700) then 1.6 Volts suggested!* Advanced/Chipset Configure Dram timing by SPD: Disabled/User define SDRAM CAS Latency: 2.5T SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3T SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 3T SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 8T SDRAM Burst Length: 8 Performance Acceleration Mode: Enabled USB Legacy Support: Disabled All other settings should be set to default settings! Then please test them one at a time with http://www.memtest.org and let’s make sure it's not some other issue! I would run the test for at least 2-3 passes to be sure! EndianX
Alright. I setup my BIOS with the settings you posted. It did help, however, I'm still getting errors, though much fewer (5 or less per pass, but always at least 1). Any other ideas? Thanks for the help, - David -
