tyrannosaurus
Hi C70 case owners, recently bought this case and it looks great. Due to the perforated structure and the steel built it's pretty noisy. I've worked already a bit to calm down the case: the steady fan noise, humming noise, vibrations ... with extra sound-damping fans, HDDs, feets ... Still I'd like it a bit more quite. So is here someone who managed to silence this case for office use and can tell me how he managed it? *Besides I'd like to cover the top but have no working idea now. *Same with the side panel window holes, how can they be covered and be still transparent. *Both side panels are no easy to move in, it takes me always minutes to close the case. Is there a trick?
thenosbod
*Besides I'd like to cover the top but have no working idea now. I take it you want to block off the top mesh. If I were to do this I would use some aluminium other material secured with screws through the fan mount holes. *Same with the side panel window holes, how can they be covered and be still transparent. I would start with a fresh piece rather than try to cover up the holes in the original window. have you seen http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-175-OP
tyrannosaurus
@thenosbod Thank you for your advice. Actually I was thinking about ordering a silencing kit, maybe for the right side panel and the bottom. It should not hinder the airstream to much. Aluminium is good choice, will look it up if available in black. Other possibilities are perspex or some sort of a magnetic filter. I'd bought a piece of perspex for the side panel window already - 3mm -, but it looks pretty ugly from inside because I have not tool to taper the edges like the original window. I know you can order one from mnpctech, but they ship only on risk of the customer.
thenosbod
Black Anodised Aluminium Sheet Offcuts are for sale on ebay and you could always paint it my 650d is fitted with one of these silencing kits. when I went to purchase it they had only got it with the kit pre fitted. tyrannosaurus
Yes, obviously you can't purchase this case without kits anymore. Someone posted a nice idea to order a LiXn LX side panel door and cut out a piece for the top cover. I've still 2 LXAN LX cases left so maybe I'll sacrifice one side panel which is made of black anodised aluminium.
