commanderzzz
Hi, I ordered this CORSAIR HX Series HX750 750W PSU to replace the one I had currently. I did not modify anything else in the computer. Upon turning it on for the first time, I saw a short circle of my Hard drive and smell of burning electronics smoke from my CPU cooler also. Turns out it fried 3 of my hard drives and cooler master CPU cooler....is this the reason i using the old cable from previous PSU that caused the damage of my 3 HDD and cpu cooler???.....i only change the new cable 6 pin and 24 pin cable.....that connected to my graphic card and motherboard........now i really feel very bad....:[pouts:
Lady Fitzgerald
I'm sorry to hear about your barbecued components. That has to be heartbreaking. If the previous PSU wasn't an HX750, then reusing the old cables most likely was what fricasseed your components. The only part of PSU cables that are standard are the ends that don't connect to the PSU. At the PSU end, there is no standard anything goes. Most brands of PSUs are made by only a handful of manufacturers so even PSU's with the same brand name can include different manufacturers. It's even possible a later version of a PSU may have been made by a different manufacturer than an earlier version, raising the possibility that the cables may not be interchangeable. Corsair PSUs are made by several different manufacturers so cables for one series of PSUs will not interchange with cables from another series. Just because a cable from one Corsair PSU can be plugged into another Corsair PSU doesn't mean it will work with that PSU. I'm sorry I can't give you better news.
