I just installed an H80i last night in my sons computer... I am getting 39 to 41 degrees C at idle. I switched to performance mode to speed up the fans thinking the temp would come down and it stayed at about 40 degrees C. I'm not sure where it should be for optimum performance or where it will be when he uses if for his gaming and really puts the system under a big load. Any thoughts on this??

Sounds like the heat sink is not seated properly.

Check the orientation of the back plate. (See Pic. http://cdn.overclock.net/a/a7/500x1000px-LL-a71b1057_backplate.png ) There are little 'notches' on the inside of 2 of the backing plate legs (circled). They are there to clear rivet/screw heads on the back of the CPU socket. Usually the 2 notches need to be orientated towards top as per supplied picture.
