tgtony
Hello there. I just bought a new rig and have been setting it up this afternoon when I ran into a slight problem. I bought a 750d with a h100i corsair cooling system which both are great but I the snag I hit was when I attempted to mount the fans on top of the radiator in a pull formation so as to exhaust through the top of the computer. For the life of me, I can not figure out the easiest way to screw in the fans and radiator attached to the top of the case. Its very awkward to screw in the fan to the radiator while balancing it and would like to know if I am just dumb and have been doing it the wrong way.. Any tips on how to properly align and secure fans on top of the radiator so they can pull air from inside the case through the rad and then out the top? Thanks! wytnyt
you should always push air thru the rad and never pull,,as far as mounting the fan/rad,theres really no way to help other than to insure their both aligned up after you get one screw in the others will line up easier.. dburne
Agreed with the above, and Corsiar's recommendation as well, have the fans pushing air through the rad into the case. That is how mine is set up, and mine cools very , very well. I built my system in Dec, and do not recall any difficulty screwing my fans through the case holes into the rad. tgtony
Doesn't the fact that heat rises make more sense to exhaust it through the top than to push cool air down? Im a novice at airflow
dburne
It is for that reason you do not want to pull it through the rad, you will be pulling warmer air through the rad, you want to push cooler air through it. As long as your case has good airflow throughout it, you will be fine.
Lady Fitzgerald
Yes, you want to push it through the top. What the others are telling you is to put the fans under the radiator so they push the air through the radiator and out the case. the only time you want fans pulling air through a radiator is when you also have fans on the opposite side push air through the radiator, call ed a push pull arrangement. dburne
Mine are actually on top, pushing the cooler ambient air through the rad and into the case. Working very well for me.

HOODedAssault
I've ran and tested a bunch of dual 120mm aio coolers. You get slightly higher gaming temps with fans pushing through the rad out of the case than you do pulling air from outside of the case in and pushing it threw the rad. But gpu motherboard and case temps overall are much higher this way. Load temps while stress testing a cpu overclock are basically identical because nothing else in the case is outputting heat while stress testing cpu. Other than ram and vrm. Which is minimal. You won't get anymore ghz from one way or the other.
snapper69
If you want to do it by using 2 fans on top of the rad to pull air out, use the small screws to fasten the fans to the top of the rad (using a thin screwdriver through the top holes ) and then use some screws the same size to fasten the fans to the top of the case.
