RAM_Questing
Hello to all, I am researching memory upgrades for a friend. He owns a Sony Vaio Model: RS-430G The motherboard is an Asus P4SD-VX.. which I can't even find specs for. At any rate.. are any of the Value Select modules compatible. I do know that this motherboard will support up to 2 Gigabytes of RAM. Can I install: VS1GBKIT400 or VS1GBKIT400C3, to give him a gig of RAM? Thank you for any info, RAM_Questing ------------------------------------------------------ My baby: Asus A7N8XE-Deluxe AMD XP2500 Barton 1-Gig Corsair Value Select RAM (VS1GBKIT400) Antec Sonata Case w/ 380Watt PS (+2 Antec 120mm Fans- Intake/Exhaust) Gainward FX5900XT Golden Sample Sony 52X32X52X16 CDRW/DVD Combo
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 27, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 27, 2004 According to what I can find these modules should be compatible. However, you may have to remove the memory that you have in the system now to make it run normally, and you will need to be running an 800 FSB CPU in order to run DDR400 as well! RAM_Questing
Many thanks for the response. I will inform my friend of your reply, and I will investigate the CPU and BIOS to see about the FSB speed. RAM_Questing
Update: Purchased 2 of the VS1GBKIT400 kits from NewEgg.com thursday afternoon. Just installed it last night. Thanks to NewEgg, Fedex and this helpful site.. my friend is once again happy with his system. RAM installed easily and was immediately recognized. Now his system is a 2.8Ghz Pentium 4 w/HT and 2 Gigabytes of RAM. I am not sure as to what the FSB is running at, will have to run SiSoft to find such info, as the BIOS is a very cheap and "basic". He is still jealous of my system, due to the fact that I load BF DC Final maps faster than he does. :D: But his system was stable after 5 straight hours of Battlefield DC Final. This is a first for him, as he was crashing with his stock 512Mb PC2700 RAM. Corsair will always have me as a customer, my quest is almost finished.
