Nichrome
Hi all, currently I am using Corsair's 300R with window. Looks great! But after holiday I am planning to buy new case, doesn't have to be bigger, but has to have BETTER cable management (more space for it at the back of the motherboard) as this one is not good enough for me and cables look very...untidy. Can anyone suggest me a different/bigger case? *ATX Motherboard Thanks
LangZone
Take a look at the Obsidian and Carbide lines as they keep a closer look to your 300R but have a ton of options. I personally use the 750D which will support more than ATX and has a full window. The Air 540 would also be great if you want to keep in the Carbide family. There's also the Graphite and Vengeance lines to choose from as well. http://www.corsair.com/en-us/cases/obsidian-series http://www.corsair.com/en-us/cases/carbide-series Hands down the worst / best part of building a computer is having to choose just one case.
Nichrome
Thanks, I was actually looking into Air 540 but isn't it small? It is pretty hard to choose a case, but in this case ( :D ) I am staying with Corsair for these reasons: they look simple, are pretty cheap (hmm 900D xD ), quality is very good compared to the price you pay but also they're not as messy as other cases (e.g. Cooler Master Haf X). Simple, straight designs with LOTS of cable management space is all I need :) Considering the Air 540 as it has space for management + PSU is mounted OUT of vision (behind mobo tray) right? Yeah it sure does, it has tons of room with it's dual chamber design. So does the 750D (not dual chamber) if you want to look into the Obsidian line. What ever the case (:sillygrin) my be. There's tons to choose from!
Nichrome
Ahh got enough of looking around. Going to be happy to place all the components in my drawer haha :D 540 Air for sure then :) Will most likely buy after holidays :)
Nichrome
Got my 540 case now! Love it! Cable management was crucial, and that's the best around! Also windows is WOW clear; sometimes it feels it's without the window since I can see buttons of my motherboard THAT clearly. Now all I need is some... LED strips! I looked at Corsair Link RGB kit but what takes me away from buying it is crappy Corsair Link software (sorry Corsair, you let me down on software side, Hardware=best!). Any suggestions please? I want some red LED strip(s) to fit around the window, or at least top and bottom of the case around the window. Also note that I want long enough power cable so I can connect it to the power supply BEHIND the motherboard tray so molex/sata power socket doesn't stick anywhere in front of my window. And well, something within good price, not 50GBP for 20cm LED strip if you know what I mean :)
Corsair Employees Corsair Dustin Posted October 29, 2014 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 29, 2014 First off, congratulations on your Air 540, it's a phenomenal case. :) Second, seriously consider giving Corsair Link a shot again. The most recent version is actually pretty fantastic; I use it with the Commander Mini to manage the fans on my custom loop at home.
Nichrome
The issue is I am out of cash by now. Spent quite a lot of it for the case, another SSD and fan controller. I look into something rather around 10-15GBP (though Corsair Link is 30GBP, and as said, it's the software itself keeping me off from buying other Corsair Link supported hardware). Yes it is phenomenal case, way more space for anything. I considered Cooler Master stacker and Corsair 750(D?) but the fact I'd have to upgrade cables for PSU and SATA, kept me into getting this dual chamber ;)
Nichrome
As expected, I refused to Corsair product so now no one will help out :d Yeah, I do understand this, it's obviously Corsair forum so shouldn't quite expect anyone to suggest me any BitFenix or other quality with low price LED kit that has long enough power cable. Nichrome
Anyway, got 1 more question: Apart from DVD drive in first bay, I have a fan controller: Aerocool X1000. For some reason this doesn't want to lock.. Had issue locking my DVD drive, so I smacked it and at last it locked itself. But fan controller doesn't want to.. any ideas how to get it so it doesn't come out? It has USB ports and whenever I pull my pen drive out, whole thing comes out lol
snapper69
It may be too short on the sides for the locking tabs to work, You may have to remove the tabs and go old school (screws)
Nichrome
Well it has tabs with holes "preinstalled" but might be you're right :) Will remove tabs and go ancient way ^_^ Thanks :)
