xclock
since migrated from my old i7 920,gtx560 system to newly built 4820k, GTX680 , H100i, with 750D case my ax1200 starting to squeal in games like BF4, MP3. at first i was just ignoring the fact but at certain level i just cant take the noise. i use this power supply in my previous system without any problems. i just dont like the hassle to go through RMA process, and the waiting. what other option do i have
JKeifer
That's a shame about the noise but, other than going through the RMA process, there's little else to do but replace it at your expense. That being said, it's strange that the PSU started acting up coincident with the new build. Sorry, but I have to ask you if you have had the ax1200 outside the case while operating to verify that it is indeed making the noise and not something else? Corsair Employees jonnyguru Posted June 23, 2014 Corsair Employees Share Posted June 23, 2014 Right. First verify that it actually is the PSU. Sometimes graphics cards make the same kind of noises. If it is the PSU, I will say this: ALL magnetics within a PSU vibrate at a certain frequency. Typically this frequency is outside of normal human hearing. But the frequency can change during load and sometimes that frequency will drop down to something we can hear. It's not an indication that the PSU is bad... but I agree it is annoying.
