Administrators Technobeard Posted June 13, 2014 Administrators Share Posted June 13, 2014 Customers who have recently purchased the new Voyager Air 2 drive have been experiencing issues while attempting to update the firmware. This is due to the fact that a small number of Voyager Air 2 drives were accidentally shipped with an older version of firmware (v1.2.9). Unfortunately, the older version of the firmware requires DC power to upgrade the firmware. All new Voyager Air 2 drives should come with firmware version 2.0.17 which eliminates the need for DC power when upgrading the firmware. To remedy this issue, we are quickly updating our inventory and channel inventory over the next few days so that all Voyager Air 2 drives will have the new firmware pre-installed. For any end user customers who have a Voyager Air 2 drive today (with firmware v1.2.9), please contact Corsair Customer Service (using the email address: Corsair.cs@corsair.com) and we will send you a free wall adapter to get you up and running as quickly as possible. We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience, and appreciate your patience. Thank you, Corsair Support

Aem101
I have never come across such an incomprehensible site as VA updates for firmware. I have 2 devices one of which failed to connect to wireless any more. I have never had any information on firmware updates let alone a new app from you..... In any case now the new app will not recognise my defunct firmware anyway!!!! After trawling through the site for most of the day I am about to give up. Why can your company not recognise and issue new updates automatically like others do? Perhaps you can tell me EXACTLY what I have to do to update my devices from a very early firmware to the current firmware. I eventually found some firmware and documentation download which is now saving on my laptop. What do I do when that is downloaded please? Also all the stuff about root folders etc is complete gobbledygook because my devices have no folders other than those I have installed myself! One comment on your already unintelligable site is instilling different updates one at a time so as not to concise the drive (or that is how I interpreted it)!!! Please guide me to something helpful that is a step my step guide on updating the firmware on my devices please!
BillRathbone
Assuming you have a Voyager Air drive with firmware earlier than 1.2.8 Steps: 1. Download and install firmware update 1.2.8 (following the instructions that are in the release .zip file) 2. Download and install firmware update 2.0.17 (following the instructions that are in the release .zip file) 3. Download and install firmware update 2.1.2 (following the instructions that are in the release .zip file) If you are stuck on one of these steps, please let me know right away. scottkar
Hi, I'm downloading the new firmware (2.0.17 is the current firmware) thru the wireless passthru and the iOS app. In Settings on the iOS app, it reads Drive firmware: 2.0.17 [Downloading update] buts it's been that way for an hour. I'm a bit wary of touching anything since I nobody wants a brick. My Internet-connected WiFi is very speedy. Can you give an idea of how long the firmware download takes and the how you'll know when it's finished? Thank you, Also, I hope to transfer .NEF (Nikon RAW) pictures from my iPad Air to the Voyager Air. I was unable to do this using the Seagate Media App.
BillRathbone
Try pressing "Settings" again - there is a bug in 2.0.0 that doesn't auto-refresh the Settings screen (to show when the update download is complete). Bricking can only happen if the drive absolutely runs out of power right in the middle of the update.

Corsair Employees Corsair James Posted September 29, 2014 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 29, 2014 Hi, I have a hard drive with version 1.2.7 that is of no use al of a sudden. I am overseas, have installed this new iOS update and have a useless hard drive now. the link for firmware 1.2.8 does not work anymore. terrible communication. You don't need 1.2.8. You can upgrade to 2.0.17 and then apply the newest update of 2.2.6.

EllGeePee
Help please.. How do I find the current version of the firmware on my device? Thanks Subsequent to my post, I have managed to gain access to the 'Settings' on my Voyager device, via my Android tablet on which it works well. The important settings are "Drive" 1.2.7 and "Android Tablet" 1.2.9 So the question NOW is - do I have to update the present firmware straight to the latest or have I to update each update sequentially from the present version? Secondly, can I undertake the updates whilst attached to my Android tablet so that it works on the iPad Air? Thank you.
Toasted
As James mentioned, you will need to update it from 1.2.7 to 2.0.17 to 2.2.6. Once the firmware is updated, the latest version of the Voyager Air app will work on the iPad Air and the Android tablet. Make sure you read the included instructions before updating the firmware. EllGeePee
Well, no response to my posts #14 & #15, above. EDIT I am sorry that I did not see 'Toasted's response, above before writing this - so thanks for that, but still will leave what I have written.......... I spent most of yesterday and eventually managed to find out that there are guidance notes to help install various Firmware releases. I could not find out if I should install all previous ones but did ascertain that I certainly needed 2.0.17 before being able to install the latest v 2.2.6....Strangely, each has a different method of installation. The former is simply downloading the zip file onto one's computer, extracting the .pkg file and moving it to the Voyager root - then disconnect from computer, turn off then on and wait until the WiFi cursor on the device finishes flashing then you are done. The latter follows the initial procedure, but after turning on the drive, you must follow four further procedures involving the Voyager App and 'settings'.....all is explained in the downloadable help sheet. This is all very complicated for a novice and even I who considers himself quite computer savvy, found the method of finding the instructions and understanding them, quite hard. Still it is now done and the device is now playing my films on my iPad very successfully.
