Voyager Air FW update, iPad 1 not working?

Earlier this week, I was notified there was an update to my Voyager App for my iPhone. I completed the update on the app, and discovered I was no longer able to view my folders on my Voyager Air.

I then updated the firmware on my Voyager Air, and my iPhones were able to connect to the Air - and view my folders. Unfortunately, on my iPad 1, there isn't an update and when I try to connect to the Air, it's not able to see my folders.

I'm thinking I need to start downgrading my Firmware on my Air until my iPad is functional but then I'll need to downgrade my iPhones to use the prior version of the app.

Any thoughts on what I need to do to get my iPad to work with the current firmware 2.0.17?

Thanks!

For what it's worth, the iOS on the iPad is 5.1.1

You have some options:

(1) Update your iPad to at least 6.x and download the new app.

(2) Connect your iPad to the drive and use the web browser UI with Safari

(3) Use a third-party app (like FileBrowser) to access the files on the drive after connecting.

(4) Contact tech support (or me) about how to downgrade your firmware back to 1.2.8 [This screws up your iPhones, though, so it's not suggested]

I think the issue that weissmj is getting at is that older mobile devices such as the iPad 1 cannot be updated to the an OS required to run the newest VA mobile app. iPad 1, for example, will not update to iOS 6.x or later. For these cases, it would be nice if the original app was still compatible with the latest VA firmware.

Bill & jbevr - Thank you both for the replies.

jbevr is correct. the ipad 1 iOS can't be upgraded to 6.1 which is required by the new version of the App and the firmware.

Unfortunately, since it can't be upgraded that's not an option; However Bill gave me a couple of good ideas on how to access the files on the drive so I can continue to watch the movies streaming.

Ironically, the App Store recognizes the limitation of the iPad 1 and it's inability to run the newer version and installs (or in my case doesn't install) the older version of the app. The older version of the app can't recognize the newer firmware.

I'm going to try Bill's suggestions before I go down the path of downgrading the firmware to 1.2.8. If my wife can watch her movies through the browser (Safari) then I'm good with that...

You know.. Happy wife, happy life!

Thanks guys

Just an update/recap on Bill's list of suggestions.

-Item (1) could not be completed since the iPad 1 does not accept iOS upgrades later than iOS 5; the new VA app requires iOS 5.1.1 while the new VA app requires iOS 6.1 or later.

- Item (2) was not successful. Although the iPad was able to connect to the VA and open the main screen for the VA using safari, it was not possible to navigate into the any of the folders or settings options to access content on the drive.

- Item (3) & (4): I have not tried yet and would prefer use a solution from 1 & 2, before restarting to 3rd party apps or reverting back to previous VA firmware.

What I can say is that the third party works. Before I upgraded to the newer firmware, I used an app called Remote Files (free) and it works great. I can watch hi-def mkv movies thru it. The only problem, I don't think it exists in the App Store now, I think it got replaced by an upgraded version of the app and it does not work quite the same as before. You can give it a try and see.
