Whenever I plug in my Vengeance 1500 headset, the control panel software immediately crashes. If I try to start the software while the headset it plugged in, it crashes when I mouse over the tray icon.

Everything works correctly on my Windows 7 laptop.

The following event is logged in the Windows Event Viewer:

- Running as admin

- Downgrading to v2.0.16

I was able to get the software into a semi-usable state by doing the following:

  • Make sure the headset software is not running (easy for me-- it crashes instantly).
  • Unplug the headset
  • Delete the Corsair folder in %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local
  • Launch the headset software.
  • Plug the headset in.
  • The software now works!

It still crashes if I try the mic check option and won't relaunch properly until I proceed with the above steps again.

EDIT:

Actually, I can be even more specific.

Turning on mic check changes a value in %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Corsair\Headset\Corsair.ini:

<mic_check checked="false"/>

becomes

<mic_check checked="true"/>

If I just change it back, the software launches again and doesn't crash.
