ASUS Maximus VI Hero and Vengeance Pro 1866Mhz (Error Code 55, 4 months later)

Her everyone, I'm getting completely frustrated at the moment. Back in February of this year, I purchased all my component for my first gaming build. The parts consisted of an ASUS Maximus VI Hero, 4770k, EVGA GTX 780, Corsair Vengeance Pro 1866 (8x2GB), and a Corsair AX860.

Ive currently been having issues (started today) where I would crash in the middle of any game (Mostly Crysis 3) with the error code DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED. I tried reinstalling NVidia drivers, and also converting back to older drivers. Nothing fixed the issue. From what I understand, its caused by an unstable overclock and over-heating, however, my card was only hitting 65c (not hot at all). I reset my 780 to stock clocks, and I would still crash. I decided maybe I should re-seat the card and hope that would fix the issue. While doing so, I was a little curious with the MEMOK! button on my ASUS Maximus VI Hero Motherboard. Being stupid, I pressed it, and now its saying that I have no memory installed- error code 55)

I have taken out my memory, and even done them 1 at a time. No matter what I did, I was still getting the error code 55.

After checking the Motherboard manual, 55 is stated as no memory installed. What does that even mean, when they are both installed correctly? Are my memory sticks dying out? I know that the ASUS qualified vendors for my board is not listed (my memory is not listed on the "compatible list"), but I was able to boot since February. Why is this happening all of a sudden? Should I go out and buy a cheap set of memory that is listed, and try that?

I would really appreciate a little help. I mean my computer was working for 4 months straight, and all of a sudden its telling me that I have no memory installed. Thanks

Sounds like either the RAM has failed or that the motherboard's DIMM's are dead. Try putting them in different slots maybe?

Thanks for a reply. I have tried them in the other 2 slots, and same issue- 55 error. I don't have another computer to try them in, so should I just RMA them? I just don't understand how I this happened all of sudden

Just looked up that error while you playing Crysis. Here is what Microsoft has said about it.

The video card has been physically removed from the system, or a driver upgrade for the video card has occurred. The application should destroy and recreate the device. For help debugging the problem, call ID3D10Device::GetDeviceRemovedReason.

Sorry to say... but I think your mobo is dying. =/ Might want to post over on ASUS ROG forums for assistance there as well.

EDIT: I might not be correct, but asking assistance over there as well could pose the question to more people. Also for both sticks to just die would be crazy. Something like that rarely happens.

I decided to take out the cpu and reinstall it. That seemed to fix the 55 error. Then I realized that there were 2-3 bent pins on the motherboard. Instead if dealing with an RmA, Amazon was nice enough to let me send it in and get a replacement. That must be the problem with the gpu, because it's firmly in the slot.

Well glad you got everything solved! Sorry for not responding sooner.

Still though, that's a bit weird that you weren't having issues for months and then come to find out it was bent pins. Have you reinstalled the CPU at all during the last few months? (Besides checking and finding bent pins?)
