DonB
While kicking and screaming, I finally gave up my XP and switched to Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit last Saturday. I'm thinking I may need more memory. I never had any problems with the XP and all the programs I could load but I already got one low memory nag from the new Windows Currently my slots are filled with TWIN 2X2048-6400C4 G and TWIN2X2048-6400C4DHX. Would it work to remove the TWIN 2X2048-6400C4 G and replace with TWIN2X4096-6400C5C to give me 6 GB?
Nichrome
I am not sure if this would work, as I am one of the younger people around so I don't have much experience with older technologies (DDR2s etc). However, if the latencies and speeds would be changed so they're the same, then I see no problem running like this.
sandstorm1
for win 7 it states a min of 1-2 gb of ram...my experience says that is garbage. as for ram get as much as your willing to spend....same type and speed. its not recommended but running 2 different speeds of ram is useless (the ram will only run at the slower ram's speed). if your running games more ram will benefit, where as just light pc use( web and video's) will not use more than the 6 gb. if you can swing a 8 gb kit (2x 4gb) i would go that route. just make sure before you purchase to check your motherboard for compatibility.
