skullrebell
I have been looking to get some more airflow to my gpu and allow for venting so my idea is to perforate the window side panel. I however dont know what type of drill bit to use or what precautions to use in drilling this plastic as im used to working with wood. any tips? LangZone
I don't think you'd see a huge temp decrease. You could add 120mm fans to the bottom of the 750D intaking to increase airflow. If you are going to drill the plexi window, just do it very very slowly. You can buy drill bits made for plastics but a small drill bit moving slowly should work. Do peck drilling where you drill a little then raise your drill. It puts less stress on the plastic. Some people will also suggest putting painters tape over the area you drill but I never found it made a difference if you just take your time. Lady Fitzgerald
When drilling plastic, I drill a small pilot hole, then drill halfway from one side, then finish drilling from the other side. Use a slow feed to prevent heating up the plastic and the bit and a very light feed to help avoid breakout. One trick to reduce or even avoid the grabbing that can cause breakout (it also works with sheet metal) is to fold up a small piece of paper towel to four layers, then put it under the business end of the drill bit before drilling. wytnyt
one of the biggest mistakes when drilling is most run the bit fast and pushes hard which builds up heat and grabs when it go thru the other side just drill at a slow speed, push lightly also when you see its ready to break thru you can tilt the drill bit and this helps to avoid grabbing...
