ninjamax
New h100i no probs so far, but at idle no browser page open monitoring cpu usage at 0 idletemps sometimes jump, like its 30c then next instamt readout is 40c then back to 30 40 29 40 30, is this normal? Used the stock heatsnk paste it came with. Plus some residue of a thin coat from last heatsink mount, don't think this happened when I first installed it, didint happen before. Really don't think the thermal paste is the issue. Otherwise when gaming it kinda fluctuates the same at 50c to 40 to 55 to45 to 58 etc.... ninjamax
I just hope I don't get the notorious pump failure, cause I love this thing, I got my 3 6 to 4.8 and it works awesome but the temps at 4.8 make me umcomfortable as in it might wear anf tear on the unit and the coolant overtime faster? I'm thinking I might of heard a static sizzle kinda noise using prime 95 once on 4.8ghz, but thought it might of been static in my speakers during the test, didint want to find out the hard way and that's when I thought the fluctuating temps started to happen. Mainly thought speaker interferrence from the program as it stopped when it was closed down. Just want to make sure everything is normal since I bought it from bestbuy and have the opportunity to get a new one in 15 days instantly when they restock cause I found a lucky only one there and didint even know they carried them lol, just ran into it browsing the store n didint wanna chance week windows of waiting time on a product I've heard having so many issues. But honestly I'm in love with it, just hope its not in the way I loved my cadillac when I had one.

REMA1
plus some residue of a thin coat from last heatsink mount..unquote.. I ALWAYS clean my cpu with rubbing alcohol using Q tips and coffee paper so that the old paste is totally removed before applying new. don't know if the residue is part of the prob? ninjamax
I was lazy ima buy more arctic silver 5 n put it on fresh and repost results. I'm thinking highly in theory and hope I am right, that the two layers are inconsistent with eachother, so the temps have to catch up to the variable surface contact. If not I will be exchanging it for safe reasons while I still can. Will post results when I'm back in state tomorrow.
ninjamax
just reapplied thermal compound and its better, but now im getting the notorious pump whine, its happens at random moments and its DEFINITELY noticeable LOL. the best thing about it is I recently returned a pair of ****ty $20 Logitech speakers, and bestbuy said im on hold for 90 days, so now I gotta get a friend to return it for me. bestbuy is gay. im gonna hook the new one up and not mess with it AT ALL.
