Limit
I'm not sure where else i can ask a question about the Corsair Voyager Air 2 since the corsair support site does not have any way to ask a question about this device. I just recent ordered the Voyager Air 2 from amazon. Upon receiving the device i plug it into my pc via usb and copied 2 .mp4 video files to the device. After doing so, to test it out i installed the new Corsair Voyager Air app on my ipad (3rd gen) removed the voyager air 2 from the pc and turned on the wireless of the voyager air 2. I went into setting on the ipad, found and connected to the voyager air wireless. Ran the app that i just installed on the ipad to see if everything was working. the App was unable to detect the hard drive and told me i should check corsair's website for new firmware. I found the Support> Downloads Section of the website and downloaded the newest firmware "Version 2.0.17" I have repeatedly tried to install the new firmware on the device however all attempts have been unsucessful. I have followed the guide and windows 8.1 check disk on the device which found no errors copied the "VoyagerAir-dev.pkg” to the root of hard drive, Safely removed the hard drive as the guide suggested and switched off and then switched on the voyager air 2, I have never see the wifi light blink showing the upgrade is take place. i have used the webportal on the device "192.168.77.1" and it says the drive firmware is "1.2.9" so the upgrade has never worked. I'm not sure what else to do expect returning the drive to amazon, any help would be appreciated Edit: Forgot to mention that while doing the upgrade the battery level was at 95% (checked via the webportal)
Toasted
Plug in the wall charger and restart the Voyager Air. I too had the problem where the battery level was 90% and the update would not start until i plugged in the wall charger and restart the Voyager Air. Limit
I have the voyager Air 2 and it only comes with a usb cable in the box, there is no wall charger
Yellowbeard
Reconnect the Voyager Air 2 to your PC using the USB cable. Scan the disk for errors. Also, when you removed the USB connection after loading files onto the drive, did you use the EJECT function to safely remove the device?
BillRathbone
I suggest scanning the drive (connected via USB) for file errors, and potentially moving everything to another location and reformatting the drive. If you are following all of the steps to install the update, the most likely thing that is stopping that update from installing is an issue in the file system of the drive. Limit
Last night read the other thread that talks about the firmware problem and a user name "Yinmeout" suggested that you do a format on the drive using elevated command prompt and "Diskpart" command to format, i followed his instruction and formatted the hard drive after which I created a simple partition with the entire drive using the admin tool "computer management" then i copied the corsair firmware update to the drive, ejected the drive safely using the tool in the system tray, powered off the hard drive waited 30seconds and powered it back on, waited and observed the drive for 5 mins and it still didn't update. I plugged the drive back in, ran a check disk which found no errors. I decided to redownload the firmware update but use 7zip to extract the files this time (previously i extracted using winrar) deleted the firmware file that i previously loaded to the drive and then copied the recently downloaded firmware. I then ejected the drive correctly, powered down the hard drive, unplugged the usb from my pc and the hard drive, waited 1 minute and turned the drive back on. I observed it for another 5 mins but the wifi light never blinked. This morning when i came to work i asked a co-worker who owns an android phone to install the "Version 1.2.9" app on his phone. The drive detected and worked correctly. Now I at least know there is no problem with the drive, its just the firmware updating is the problem. I own an apple iphone5 and ipad 3rd gen so i am unable to install the old "Version 1.2.9 app" on either of the device and must get the firmware to update in order to use the device
Limit
Just an update, went this afternoon to see if i could find a charger that would work with the Corsair Voyager Air 2 at radio shack, when i got there i showed a employee there the hard drive and they took out a charger and tested it. The blue Electricity bolt icon lit up on the device so with that i bought the product. When home and plugged it in to the wall with the same firmware still on the drive from yesterday. Powered on the hard drive and in about 10 seconds or so the wifi light begin to blink. I let if finish performing the update and now the drive is working correctly. Seems like its mandatory for the corsair voyager air 2 firmware update to need the power cable plugged in to work correctly
bojohnson
So, I order an expensive device from Amazon that won't work because the new app requires new firmware that will not install because I don't have a plug-in wall charger. None of which is explained on the front end of the purchase. Brilliant. Cannot decide whether to go to Radio Shack and spend money I should not have to spend to get something I just bought to work properly or send it back to Amazon. UPDATE: My closest Radio Shack does not have a power supply in stock that works. Amazon shows a plug in the wall power supply for the Voyager Air. Does this work with the Voyager Air 2? Will the firmware install properly if I spend the additional $26 that I should not have to spend? Corsair, you should be ashamed to sell a product that doesn't work until the customer spends more money.
Yellowbeard
Corsair, you should be ashamed to sell a product that doesn't work until the customer spends more money. Please do not jump to conclusions based on a single forum post. We did NOT design the Voyager Air 2 to force you to spend more money. Start a ticket with tech support and we'll get you fixed up.
