rhunt
Hi, I have recently built myself a new system with TwinX 1024 XMS3200XLPro modules in it. The system (right from the start) was restarting randomly. I have now narrowed down the problem to something to do with the ram, in singke channel (slots 1+3, 2+4) it runs fine, but in dual channel (slots 1+2, 3+4) it crashes. Also in single channel, prime 95 torture test runs happily but in dual channel it crashes out after 1-3 minutes. Can someone please help? System Specs: GigaByte GA-K8NSNXP-939 (NForce 3 Ultra) Athlon 64 FX-53 (2.41Ghz) Thermaltake Silent Purepower 560W PSU
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 26, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 26, 2004 Please make sure that you have the latest BIOS for your MB and load Setup/optimized default settings, and try the following BIOS settings; TwinX1024 or TwinX512-3200XL Advanced Chipset Features (Ctrl + F1) DRAM Clock: 400 MHz Configure Dram timing by SPD: Disabled/User define SDRAM CAS Latency: 2T SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 2T SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 2T SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 5T SDRAM Burst Length: 8 SDRAM Bank Interleave: 4/Auto/Enabled SDRAM Command Rate: 1T Frequency Voltage Control CPU Freq: 200 Memory or Dim Reference voltage: 2.7/2.75 Volts (+.2) AGP Voltage: Default *unless you have ATI 9200 or 9600 then 1.6 Volts suggested!* All other settings should be set to default settings! Then please test them one at a time with http://www.memtest.org and let’s make sure it's not some other issue! I would run the test for at least 2-3 passes to be sure! rhunt
is that all of the tests or just the basic tests?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 26, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 26, 2004 Just the basic tests should show if you have a failing module!

Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 28, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 28, 2004 If memtest86 found no problems or errors on the memory, then I will suggest you to look at other hardware/peripherals installed on your system. I do not think the problem is coming from the memory modules!
