TheCaffeinated1
I can't get my xms3200LL Pro v1.1 to work in dual channel mode in either 1&3 or 1&4 slots. They work fine in 1&2 and 1&3. I have an Abit IC7-Max3 MB. I have tried on the default spd settings. The mb just beeps an long beep and I get no post. Any advice?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 26, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 26, 2004 Please make sure that you have the modules installed on either 1&3 or 2&4; in addition please install the latest BIOS for your MB and load Setup/optimized default settings, and try the following BIOS settings; TwinX1024 or TwinX512-3200LLPRO Softmenu CPU Operating Speed: User Define CPU Freq: 200 DRAM Clock: 400 MHz CPU/DRAM ratio: 1:1 Memory or Dim Reference voltage: 2.75 Volts AGP Voltage: Default *unless you have ATI 9200 or 9600 then 1.6 Volts suggested!* Advanced/Chipset Configure Dram timing by SPD: Disabled/User define SDRAM CAS Latency: 2T SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3T SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 2T SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 6T SDRAM Burst Length: 8 All other settings should be set to default settings! Then please test them one at a time with http://www.memtest.org and let’s make sure it's not some other issue! I would run the test for at least 2-3 passes to be sure! TheCaffeinated1
Ram guy, I tested both modules separately under the conditions which you suggested. One module passed without errors 6 times. The other module failed twice out of 6 tests. It failed test #4 and test #3. Can I replace these? Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 3, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 3, 2004 Yes let's try replacing them. Please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it!
TheCaffeinated1
Still no go- I have the same problem. Computer will not post in dual channel mode. I came accross this thread on the Abit forum site. http://forum.abit-usa.com/showthread.php?threadid=44683&highlight=dual+channel+ic7+max3+post Is this memory that I have registered or ECC? I don't have a different brand of memory to test. Can Corsair send me something that will work?
Wired
As long as there's no R or RE in your memory part, it should work.
TheCaffeinated1
No there is no R or RE in the part number. Now what?
Wired
Is the exact part # TwinX1024-3200LL, or are they 2 separate sticks of CMX512-3200LL? What is the version # on each stick? What are your BIOS settings for your memory? What is the memory voltage set to?
TheCaffeinated1
My first sticks which I RMA'd were packaged as a set. The replacements were packaged separatly. Both stick have identical lablels: CMX512-3200XLPRO XMS3208v1.1 XMS3200 512MB 400MHZ 0441010-3 2225 My MB setting: Abit IC7-MAX3 Bios v18 (latest) P4 3.2 EXT CLOCK (CPU/AGP/PCI) 200/66/33MHZ N/B STRAP CPU AS PSB800 DRAM RATIO (CPU:DRAM) 1:1 AGP RATIO (CPU:AGP:PCI) FIXED FIXED AGP/PCI FREQUENCY 66/33MHZ DDR SDRAM VOLT 2.8 * MEMORY TIMINGS BY SPD ** 2.5,5,2,2 GAME ACCELERATOR SETTINGS ALL ON AUTO * I have tried with 2.7v, 2.8v, and 3.0v without success ** I have tried various timings without success Will not post in dual channel mode. I get continous a 5 second long beep with a 3 second pause in between. I am getting frustrated. Please help.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 2, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 2, 2004 If the modules will run and pass http://www.memtest.org one up or in single channel mode, but will not post when installed in dual channel; that would suggest a MB/Chipset problem, and I would suggest you send the MB in to be replaced and or repaired. mleventi
I have a very similar problem to yours yet i am running the GA-K8NSNXP-939 gigabyte board. Basically my memory works in single channel mode but when i attempt to get dual channel operation i get bios beeps, no post. I have two corsair sticks, now on the sticker it says the are cmx512re-3200llpt but there is a small white label on them that also says twinx. Maybe you and i have the same solution. Now i have tried other memory, older with slower latency on the board and that does dual channel, so i am perplexed?
TheCaffeinated1
It sounds like you have regestered memory (re). I have read in other posts that regestered memory causes problem in dual channel.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 3, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 3, 2004 Sorry but socket 939 and 754 AMD 64 systems will not support registered memory. Please see if the reseller will let you exchnage these for the same part with no "R" or "RE" in the part#.
