AbSoluTc
So, I have an AX850 that appears to be having some issues. It started several days ago. My system started to randomly turn off. No rhyme or reason. Sometimes consecutively, 3 or 4 times in a row. Sometimes after 15/20 minutes. Sometimes, only once during the day. I have not added anything to the system or made any changes. It started with Asus telling me a surge was detected and the system was powered off to prevent damage. I turned that off. System still power cycling randomly. I started unplugging anything that was not needed. Same thing. How does the RMA of a PSU work? This is my gaming machine and I really don't want to be without a PSU while I wait two weeks to get this one fixed. Why is this thing failing already? Administrators Technobeard Posted May 27, 2014 Administrators Share Posted May 27, 2014 Standard RMA - You send the PSU first, we then send the replacement. Express RMA - The other way around which requires a credit card as collateral. Since this PSU isn't made anymore what you'll have to get a standard RMA, then call customer service and they can manually upgrade it to an express RMA. Corsair Employees jonnyguru Posted May 27, 2014 Corsair Employees Share Posted May 27, 2014 Hopefully it's not a motherboard problem. By "power cycling", do you mean reboot? And when it shuts down on it's own, can you just press the button on the front of the chassis to get the PC to come back up or do you need to flip the switch on the back of the PSU? AbSoluTc
Bought a replacement PSU until I get this one RMAed. I bought the AX860 since the AX850 is not made anymore. I asked Corsair tech support Tuesday, would the white sleeved cables I have in their now, by Corsair fit the new PSU? Corsair's response? YES! What happens? I get the 860 in today. NOTHING IS THE SAME! NADA! I am pretty pissed right now. Not only is this a waste of cables, I now have to rip out all my nice cabling and use the crappy cables just to get up and running. What the actual hell?? You all couldn't keep the connectors the same? REALLY? Are you all going to send me out a replacement set of sleeved white cables as well? Seems only fair.

At the time, it was Corsair's only fully modular product, so the default Seasonic pin-out was used for the connectors. After making many more modular products with many more vendors, it was decided to standardize to one pinout. At the time, Seasonic made products were of the minority, so using that pinout lost out and we went with what is used now; including what's used on the Seasonic made products like the AX Platinum. I know this doesn't help your situation. I just wanted to give you some background as to why the change in pinout.
