ActionBastard
My H80I appears to be what is shutting down my computer from overheating, not my CPU. using link I see that my h80I is a consistant 20-10 degrees hotter than the actual CPU, and even under no load my CPU has a problem cooling down on account of how hot the H80I is. under load sometimes I seem to be able to play a game the whole day, other days its fifteenth minutes and it shuts on me. however I don't ever get a cpu overheat msg, though when gaming my cpu can reach very high temps (82+) I have had the cooler for about 7 months and even new my cpu wasn't getting amazing temps. Low thirtys high 20s at idle.but now at idle im around 38-42. When ever my pc shutsdown like this, The LED display on my cooler lights up yellow. a week ago when this problem started one of the things i did to test my PSU (I later used a real volt tester) was I changed powerchords and plugged it into a new outlit. this did not solve the problem, however it did make the LED turn red and now my pc would start for about 5-8 secs before turning off. I fixed the red light error by replugging the cable that connects the mobo to the h80i cooler unit. I can't find any info online about what the changed colors actually mean. Something weird: even if I crank my fans up to MAXIMUM it does not change the temp I am getting on my H80I, fans are functioning properlly though (I.E I hear them working fine, and at maximum they are at around 2500 rpm), just doesnt seem to be affecting the liquid temps, AT ALL
Synthohol
what motherboard? you didnt fill out your specs. in many situations like this rotating the block 90° helps it sit flush on the CPU as some boards have the capacitors too close to the socket and proper seating is impaired. ActionBastard
Its an Asus Sabertooth 990fx R2.0 In this case it is sitting flush so i know it isn't that :(
ActionBastard
And now my Link isn't detecing fans or h80i temp
TheHamburglar
I'm having the same exact issue, Started a few days ago, h80i Use to run in the 20s at idle now it hovers around 40c. Re-seated block retightened screws reapplied paste no change, cpu says its 38c h80i temp says its 45c
overheated
Same for me here , cant play any game now due to cpu is getting over 60 degrees © Cpu not OC`ed but after 20/30 min gameplay its mobo tempbeeps and before i can respond bluescreen Since February this H80i never exceeds temps over 45 ©
Granddad
Same here for me too. PC keeps shutting down to excessive CPU temp... all fans running max and that is quite quick after booting. Radiator top tank stone cold! Corsair Link shows CPU at 80-90c (gulp). Rotated 1/2 ton of PC to check for airlock to no avail! Changed the 80i with a new replacement this afternoon and temp now stable at 25-30c and fans running quietly. QUESTION?? Old unit radiator seems to have a lot of air inside and very little coolant. Is this normal??
overheated
@Granddad Did you weighed the 2 H80i , so theres a real difference Gonna do mine tommorow , and if indeed fluid is missing i will do a RMA then
Granddad
@Granddad Did you weighed the 2 H80i , so theres a real difference Gonna do mine tommorow , and if indeed fluid is missing i will do a RMA then Do'h .. never gave that a thought (to old for bright ideas  ) anyway... old unit weighs exactly 777 grams. Anyone know what the weight should be?
PJNP
I have the same problem as you guys. My workstation is a month old, its a 4820K@ 3.7 LGA2011 on a Asus P9X79,no overclock only stock speeds. Two days ago Idle temp started to rise above 45º C i now get 100ºC on full load and the mobo reached 120ºC, its mostly cool except for the backplate of the LGA 2011, i could fry an egg there.Strange thing is, "Corsair link" displays at least 10 degrees more than Asus thermal utility "Ai Suit II".Despite the fact CPU temperature runs above 80ºC, the H80i Block is cool, its like the pump just stopped doing its job. I read somewhere to remove the USB cable from the pump and start the pc for brief seconds and then set the cable again, this seems to sort the problem out for a few hours. A week ago i had this running CPU at 100% for 3 days non-stop without any issues...
overheated
I think we just have to wait till Corsair responds to the problems , i made ticket for myself , even restated the old air-tower wich shows that something is wrong 32 degrees idle 56 under load with my H80i ( 52 degrees from boot till windows ) so gaming is possible again I tried all things from maybe trapped air , new coolpaste ,lowering clocks or the new link software (not firmware stayed on orginal 1.05)
Granddad
Do'h .. never gave that a thought (to old for bright ideas  ) anyway... old unit weighs exactly 777 grams. Anyone know what the weight should be? No one has submitted an answer for me so..... Been and bought another one (will sit on the shelf as a spare ) and the weight of the new unit?? exactly 777 grams. So I assume that my original unit failure is the pump! and not loss or low coolant.
doublethink
Thought I would post here too. My H80i temps have jumped 15 deg in a few days. Sudenly getting 40 deg c idles and 90+ deg on prime 95 load. 2500K here not overclocked. Stock voltages and no changes since I put the H80i in about 4 months ago. Previously got 25 deg c and 50-60 load. Tried changing the fan speed- only a 1 deg change between minimum fan speed and maximum! I think the cooler sounds like it may be faulty to me. Olodum
Hi fellas, I seem to have a similar problem. Temps jumped once like a month ago so I reapplied thermal paste and after the 3rd try I got it right. Everything seemed to go back to normal 27-29º idle 55-60º load (70º if I was rendering video). And a couple of days ago same thing, all of a sudden temps started to raise again. Reseated the heatsink (reapplied thermal paste after properly cleaning cpu and heatsink) swapped the fans setting now I'm on push pull intake and I'm still getting 40º idle and rising. It's weird how without doing anything the temps just start to raise. Ambient temp rises 1-2 degrees every minute. Starts at 31º ends up at 42º. I'm in Berlin and right now we have 31º outside. The room temperature is 27-28. Don't know what to doooo!!! Any ideas?
sdgdf
Same kind of problem, though mine has left me a bit more dumbfounded. I first encountered this issue 6 months ago, my idle temps went from 30 to 40*C and under load went up from 60 to about 80-90. It wasn't that bad and it would level off at 80-90 so I just kept gaming, and for some reason, the problem became less and less of an issue. It seemed like the dust actually helped? Up until yesterday it had been doing better than it had in a while, idle around 35-40*C and never over 70 under load. I cleaned out the dust yesterday. Didn't touch the H80 or anything inside the case at all, just used compressed air on the radiator. I expected temps to drop, but the opposite happened. Now it idles 50*C and it won't level off under load at any clock speed. I have a i5 2500K and at 2.3ghz (1.0 less than stock) if it hits full load temps will just keep going up til it hits the 98*C shutdown temp. I'm disappointed with my H80, it only worked well for maybe a year before these issues started to develop. I remember idle temps of 25-30*C when it was new. I bought a new fan and heatsink today and am going to stick to air-cooling from now on, these reliability issues just aren't worth it! I've spent the last year or so wondering if its an air bubble, or low coolant, or a failing pump. I have to say that even if I RMA'd my H80 I'd probably sell it on ebay and just stick with air-cooling, lol.
vespa5
Unfortunately, I had the same experience with an H80i. For some reason, the quality of the cooling performance degrades with time. I was hoping that this finite amount of time would be longer than a few months. You can go through the motions of reapplying thermal paste, fan and dust maintenance, the whole 9 yards, but for some reason, it just slows down the inevitable of making a choice: a) RMA the unit b) buy another one or another brand
