madcratebuilder
9590/CHVF-Z, 2 280X, custom loop with dual d5's. Kill-a-watt show 250 watts at idle loads. System runs great, 5.2 + GPU's are about 18% OC'ed. Cooling couldn't be better. I have one concern, my main monitoring software, HWInfo shows the 12V rail always around 11.8. Other monitoring software shows the same 11.8V+/-. Corsair Link shows 12.0-12.03. I've read that a PSU can have a 3% undervolt with out issues and I'm within that spec. Should I be concerned? wytnyt
i dont think you have cause for concern but lets let jonnyguru confirm this as he is the psu guru here...
Corsair Employees jonnyguru Posted May 25, 2014 Corsair Employees Share Posted May 25, 2014 HWInfo and other programs like it are HORRIBLE for monitoring PSU voltages. Fortunately, you do have a DSP power supply, so the reading in Link actually IS accurate because it's being read from the PSU itself. The readings in your BIOS, HWInfo, etc. comes from the motherboard through a chip that's not very accurate to begin with. I always tell people, if you're concerned about PSU voltages (and don't have Link), get a DMM and test at an available connector and never listen to software. EDIT: And FYI... the +/- for voltage is actually 5%. Not 3%. So you would actually be in spec if you dropped down to 11.4V. But, like I said, that reading is wrong any way.
