Zodd1888
Hey All, Just recently picked up a H110 for my FX9590 after decising the H80i wasn't quite doing the job. Well after wrestling with this thing for quite some time I've found I can't quite get it seated correctly. I've taken off the waterblock a few times and notice the right side never gets TIM on it, leading me to believe it's not sitting right and resulting in higher than expected temperature (45c idle). So what options do I have? The thumb screws on the right turn infinitely (gets tight but then the silver back mount thing spins). I've also never been first time successful sscrewing in the mount (always slightly off center on first screw in requiring me to adjust mount and likely resulting in smearing, still no TIM on the right side though after unmounting to check). Idea me guru's!
Zodd1888
Quick comment. Why, in the manual, does it look like the backplate in on the front of the mobo on the installation of the waterblock segment, but on the backplate segment it show the back of the mobo? I didn't put my backplate incorrectly on the back of my mobo right?
Zodd1888
Bump? Anyone?
wytnyt
it goes behind the m/b as shown here with cutouts facing up... if not facing up will result in improper seating....
Zodd1888
Terrible manual pictures. I've got it installed correctly then. Any idea why it's idle at 60c?
wytnyt
check and insure bios says pumps running ~2250 rpm,,could be a bad app of paste or perhaps a capacitor hitting on the hydro mounting try pressing firmly on the block to see if idle temps drop... Zodd1888
The H110 pump speed is 2250 rpm? I thought it was 1500. Can you just reconfirm for me it's 2250 (don't want to blow the pump).

Zodd1888
Please disregard. New question: How do I manually set the pump speed in asrock 990fx extreme 9? I've went in and under the heading but I cant seem to figure it out (someyhing about setting it to level 9 or custom and 255?).
wytnyt
im not familiar with as rock but you should let the pump run at factory rpm's for best cooling...
Zodd1888
Guess I'll give the push down method a try tonight and see how that works. If it does I'm guessing I need washers on my backplate then?
wytnyt
yes,do you know if your m/b is thinner than most others? also make sure to check that nothing it keeping the block from sitting flush..
Zodd1888
Tried doing the push down with no real results. Also re-seated the processor again tonight. Noticed that the mounting pins coming through the back plate weren't quite flush and sat a little high out of the board (about 2 mm). Put on 1 nylon washer on each post and temps are idle at about 50 degrees C. Is this what I can expect from H110 cooler on this fx9590 chip, or is something still wrong? Motherboard temp sits at about 35 degrees C.

Zodd1888
Full load temps are crazy high (I shut Prime 95 down at 78 degrees). Is this more than likely the chip? That's what I'm thinking, but I just don't know for sure.
Zodd1888
Just filed RMA for my FX9590. I wad immediately approved this morning as soon as they opened, without any asks to run tests etc. Is this normal, or did I get a defective chip?
