kikoo_x
So, I've assembled my build this weekend and I am not really impressed with the h80i results, I am getting at stock clock 36ºC and under load at prime95 52ºC now I just don't wanna overclock it at all, I was hopping for much better cooling, something like idle 20ºC and under load (overclocked to 4.6 at least) at max 45ºC~50ºC. The H80i is set as intake, everything was connected correctly and the airflow is good, btw I had my side panel off when testing. So, Are my temps okay or I had really had high expectations with the cooler? if I apply MX4 maybe it will get better or I should jump to a h100i? kikoo_x
so, no one can show me their results with the fx8350 and h80i?
David.Cui
Hi, I also have CM Storm Scout. I would say the temperature is normal. you can lower the temperature by add more case fans and change radiator fan to NF-F12 PWM. I did for my H100i and there is noticeable 3 C down for my CPU temperature and great improvement on noise level. David Cui

kikoo_x
ok, maybe not THAT low, but I still think temps are high for what I've heard from the h80i, playing borderlands now for an hour and it was around 55ºC, and no overclock whatsover, I just wanted to know if someone with the same cpu and h80i could have those temps
antonyfrn
OK well your system specs are similar to mine but I have a H100i set up in push and pull using 4 x Corsair SP120L fans. I do have Cool n quiet on in the bios and other power management options. I'm using the latest Corsair Link Software(BETA Version 2.6.5214) what I don't use to read CPU temperature's as its been proven its wrong with AMD CPUs at this time (tested on a 955BE and FX-8530 shows wrong temps compared to CoreTemp and CPUID HWMonitor Pro CLink is built on the CPUID SDK according to the change log) My temps idle & load are below and its a summers day here. 14ºC atm as its early morning yesterday was around 20ºC and not much different from the temps below. CPU Temps Min idle temp 11ºC Max Load Temp 33ºC H100i Temperature 27.4ºC Now recently I removed my H100i as I was upgrading my CPU and had to change the TIM I used AS5 what gave Ok temps seemed to run a bit warm while waiting on my Shin Etsu paste to come and generally my temps seem lot better. MugatoPdub
I have to say, I either got a bunk unit too or I'm super not impressed with my H100i. Previously running a Zalman CNPS11X Extrema and getting pretty good temps but hitting my 60c max at around 4.5Ghz on an FX-8320. With my board/ps/ram I know I can go higher so I picked up the H100i. Install was easy but temps weren't that great (I am almost going to blame the brackets, they kind of bend badly on the FX sockets) at around 40c idle and 55c load @ 4.8ghz. They were OK though, not bad and I surpassed my previous clocks. Then I pushed up to 5.1, temps were a little worse but really close to 60c under load so I thought...let's change the fans out! That should help right? I picked up 2 different sets of fans and what a bad mistake. Both had great reviews but ended up horrible! Temps went through the roof. I put the stock fans back on and, I can't even get 4.5 now!! Shoots past 60c in OCCT, gaming I'm at like 57c BF4. So, I reseat the cooler and use Antec 7, it's been 3 days and I've tightened the bracket once more, SAME TEMPS! I'm taking this thing back, very unhappy with it, plus the software is HORRIBLE. I get that you can't use it in conjunction with other monitoring software but dang is it slow and clunky, plus if you shrink the window the icons go crazy and then if you maximize it again they stay in their crazy places. Anyone have any ideas? Or did I really get a bad unit.
MugatoPdub
Took my H100i back tonight, picked up a replacement. After installation it said my firmware was out of date (didn't say this on the first one from the same store) so I updated it. Sat idling at 29c, ran OCCT for 20 minutes, peaked at 55c @ 4.8Ghz on an FX-8320. Looks like I have room to play. Not sure if it was because I finally seating all of the fans with all 4 screws or what (I was missing one screw in each because of the mobo power connector and stuff). But hey, I'm happy now! Single radiators really are for running at stock speeds. Just don't go over 84 C and you'll be okay.
beefy143
Hello i have an AMD 8350 black edition + Corsair H80i with x2 corsair SP120 high static pressure fans both drawing air from the out side of the case a fried of mine had them blowing out "blowing hot system air through the rad" bad idea lol back to the point.. :D here are some SS of my system running at stock in a room with ambient temp of 24c. at idle & then after 30 mins of Prime 95 Small FFT's the ambient temp increased by 2c in that 30 minuets. P.S in my experience it's hard to push this CPU over 53c under normal use/gaming. with my set-up. after 20 mins of P95 my cpu was at 50 in the extra 10 mins of running the test the CPU repeated "51c-52c-51c" and that is not down to fan speed change as they are set to run at max speed 100% of the time. and yes i did sit and watch the tamps the entire time lol :D / sorry for the small text in the SS. Corsair Employees Corsair Dustin Posted November 11, 2014 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 11, 2014 So no air cooler or CLC is going to be able to reduce your CPU temperature below the ambient temperature of the room, so 20C at idle is right out. Temps for the most part look fine; right now I'm actually overclocking an FX-8350 under an H100i with a pair of high performance SP120s and it's peaking at 48C under OCCT with 1.41VCore at 4.5GHz. That's in a Carbide 330R; the CM Storm Scout 2 is honestly...I reviewed that case in my past life, the airflow in that thing is *horrible.* It looks alright but it's just not a good case, CM makes much better than that.
