Please fix these things...

I really love Corsair hardware. It's well engineered, looks awesome and is the best on the market.

Unfortunately, Corsair Link does not live up to the standards set by the hardware. It doesn't have to be this way. This stuff isn't rocket science. Please fix these issues.

1. If Start Minimize" is checked, it should just work. Period. There should be no workaround for something this simple. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Every time I open Corsair Link, it's unchecked.

2. On the "System" Tab, position the monitoring icons based on the center of the system image, not on the window. Whenever I resize the window, the icons are all over the place relative to the system image.

3. Add a "Lock System Image Size" check box on the "System" tab. And with problem #2, it just makes it worse. The problem is, the image scales up or down based on the window size, but only up to a point - but if you allow the user to lock the image size, it's always the same size, so the window size doesn't matter.

4. Why do you have device numbers on the "System" tab, but not on the "Devices" tab? Add the number! How am I suppose to know which of the 3 Western Digital hard drives I'm monitoring if they are all named the same and I can't tell which one is my 500GB, 1TB or 2TB drive.

5. On the "Groups" tab, please let users change the order of the groups. You might want to even consider adding a "Sort by" pulldown - like by name, or temperature.

6. Why is the "Groups" tab called groups? It doesn't group anything. Because it's a list of temperatures by device, call it "List View."

7. Why do you always prompt me to save my configuration if I don't make any changes? This interface isn't so complex that you even need to ask me. I know when I need to save it and when I don't. There is a way to mark a configuration file "dirty" when someone makes a change. If you cant figure out how to mark something dirty, then stop prompting people to save their configuration. Or add a "Don't prompt me to save" check box.

This list of problems might seem trivial to some people, but I am so TOTALLY IRRITATED by these things. I've been professionally developing applications for over 28 years and if this were my app, I could have these things fixed in one or two days, a week at most.

If you can't fix these things, please release the API so that customers can write their own software. Proprietary? I don't think so.

Sorry for the rant. I like having Corsair Link in the system tray, because that's just the way I am, but I really DESPISE having to look at it every time my system starts. And these other problems just fuels my resentment.

i feel confident when you developed your software it was from scratch without having the basics done for you,,why not do it for the link, ive seen many here saying even a kid could code it so for someone with 28 years background ,this should be a walk in the park for you.

were only talking about recognizing core components and controlling fans, something which is on the elementary side of computer hardware/software.

It's something that's been on my mind ever since I got my new system. I really wish I had the time and motivation to write something for myself. If I'm going to go through the trouble of writing something, it's going to be done right and looked polished. Do I really want to spend the next 40-80 hours of my free time doing that? Today the answer is no. I'm too busy enjoying my new system. :winking:

But this isn't about me. It's about Corsair fixing issues with its software and putting out a quality software product. In this day and age, I don't think it's too much to expect.

your right as it is up to corsair to put out a functioning software in which they are working on it but everyday someone comes on here saying its so easy most anyone can do it,then you have others that boast they've had years of software programming and when asked why dont they fix it,its the same excuse''i could if corsair gave me their coding'',,,hmmm

and id someone were lucky enough to get it to work for them then put this same software on a dozen other machines and it would be a miracle if but one worked...

this is what Corsair is up against...

Up against? No. They are not up against the few consumers that come on here stating that they could do it if Corsair provided them with the code.

The bar for quality software was set years ago by people providing quality freeware and shareware that worked as advertised, wasn't buggy and had a good user interface. These developers responded to feedback and made the software better.

One reason people ask for code, is that the basic underlying code to read the sensors and set the fan speed has already been written. Same for the code to detect the hardware. Why reinvent the wheel when someone has already done and tested the basic functionality? The [my] main issues with Corsair Link is the user interface - and that's something a lot of people know how to do well.

I know why a lot of programmers jump on here and say what they do. It's not like being an armchair quarterback on Sundays. It's because some people (not all, I give you that) can actually deliver what they say here in the forum.

I would venture to guess that a lot of people feel like I do - if Corsair isn't interested in helping us help them make a better software product by providing us with the APIs, then why should we go through the trouble of making Corsair Link better? For me, it's not about the money. And it's not about bragging rights either. It's about doing something challenging and fun, and providing a quality product. That's something non-programmers don't quite understand - why people like myself would write something taking hours and hours to develop and then give it away for free. It's because we can.

you've misunderstood what i was attempting to say

it isnt that the software cant be made to work for a machine quite effectively as it can actually, the problem that Corsair faces and anyone else that cares to work the software is that it will not work in the community as a whole.

for some it does, others it wont, same software/hardware,,even the registry fix acts in the same manner.you can code it to work and it too will be afflicted with the same problems

problems such as the vast amount of various types of hardware and software all mixed together in every way possible,,,

and then theres the novice user that load up their computer with aisuite, aida, real temp, core temp and countless others and then use em all at the same time and wonder why things gets messed up

Totally agree,

I don't want this crappy user interface. Too fancy and so useless, it's buggy and we don't need that kind of fancy thing.

Just give us a table with the sensors values on each row, some settings for the coolers and we will be happy.

Or give us the assemblies used to retrieve the information from the hardware and we will be happy too.

Just another angry programmer.

I agree also. Notice none of the programmers / developers are in these threads, asking questions or anything? Seems like nobody cares if we're unhappy or what is wrong.

perhaps its because their working with what they do,im sure the mods here keep them posted

I second this, enthusiastically!
