Pvtspoon
Ive had my Corsair H60 for over ayear on my i7 950 3.06Ghz overclocked to 4.0Ghz & twice a year i clean the dust out the system this time i cleaned the dust out the radiator i have the Noctua NF-P12 120mm fans in a push pull config i put everything back in same way it come out, but now im getting 70c-80c+ underload & an idle about 55-62c, before the clean i as getting idles of 33-38c and load 55-60c ive checked the bios say's the pump rpm is 4620 but no idea if that ok or not. ive backed the overclock off to stock to get the idle temp back to a normal level Any help or ideas are welcome Thanks
Latharion
It might be a good idea to remove the pump, clean the CPU lid and the pump, and then apply new thermal compound (Arctic MX4, Shin Etsu, etc...) It is possible that in removing the fans or aggressive cleaning may have loosened the pump. If it's been more than a year since it was last placed on the CPU, the thermal compound may be quite dry, and thus less efficient. The pump speed is just fine. BTW, the number read in BIOS is twice the actual RPM of the pump. Are the fans making a noise, or do they feel like they are not pushing as much air as they once were? The bearings do wear out on them and they can become less efficient over time.
Pvtspoon
Hi Thanks for your reply I'll try some new Arctic MX4 I had the pump off and reseated it the compound seemed moist but a little sticky, the fans are ok there pushing air fine but I can change them out for some stock unused corsairs ones I have about
Latharion
If they are pushing air, then there should be no need to change the fans. I'd be willing to bet it's a seating issue, which is easily resolved by cleaning and reapplying thermal compound to the pump.
Pvtspoon
ive ordered some new Arctic MX4 but found an unopened Arctic MX3 in my motherboard box
Latharion
MX3 will work just fine. MX4 is slightly better of course, but you certainly won't have any issues with using the MX3.
