Fallemarg
Hello to everyone. I apologize for bothering people but I have several questions regarding the Corsair Link software as I haven't used it before last Wednesday. I purchased an H80i for curiosity and testing in regards to my living room setup. Not knowing much about how this works I have a few questions as follows: 1. Fan grouping - Under the settings for the listed H80i fans there is a drop down menu called group. I have noticed through setting this it changes the rotation speed on the fans dependent upon what it is grouped with. The question is, do I group the fans with the CPU Temperature or the H80i Temperature? 2. Core temps - Again being unfamiliar with Closed loop cooling systems I am uncertain as to whether the temperatures I am seeing are good, bad or if I screwed something up. At idle Corsair Link reports my CPU temperature at 34.3 degrees Celsius and the H80i at 29.6 degrees Celsius. The CPU temperature with the stock fan idled at 41 so there is a marked decrease of temperature, but again having no experience in regards to water cooling I do not know if this is normal, or if something is not right. 3. Full Load temps - I have not pushed the system yet or tried prime with the liquid cooler yet. I know on the stock cooling I maxed out at 70 degrees Celsius. Aside from exceeding that temperature, is there specific temperatures I should be trying to keep from exceeding? I know I am new to this and it's probably exasperating to be questioned constantly, but I appreciate any help you can give in regards to my questions. Hope everyone is having a wonderful day. Regards, Fallemarg
Nichrome
1. Don't understand what you mean so sorry. 2. 34 is fine for idle and 29,6 for h80i. 34 is the CPU temp, and 29 is liquid's temp inside the loop. No way you can transfer this exactly 3. If it exceeds 70*C then it's probably badly applied thermal paste and screwed into the CPU socket. Reapply then and tighten the wateblock a bit more than now. Just got my h80i (2 days ago) and pretty happy. Therefore forum is a bit useless. ==EDIT== Forum is a bit useless: over 150 views on my post and no answers
Fallemarg
question 1 refers to the settings section of the fans. In corsair link when you click on the icon for say h80i fan 3 it brings ups a screen that looks like the photo attached. As you can see in the screen there is a header called Group. The drop down menu when clicking that option allows you to group the fan with. If you group the fans with the H80i the fans drop to lower rotation speed than if you group them with the CPU temperature. So the question is, do I group the fans with the CPU temperature to increase the rpm of the fans or do I group the fans with the h80i temperature? Nichrome
If these are H80i fans then leave in H80i group (leave as it is). What you want to change mainly is the mode (I use fixed RPM %, which for normal operation I have 40% and for benchmarking or really heavy gameplay I have different profile). It's just for recognising which fan/where it is located (I think). As you can have 4 fans in Corsair H80i, means that 2 are on h80i itself (so h80i temp) and 2 others somewhere else which I think you can make a group? Some things doesn't work the way you would expect this.
Fallemarg
my guess as to why they are labelled fans 3 and 4 is because I stuck the splitter in the power connector on the H80i I only have two fans connected to the H80i. Sorry I know its a little confusing.
Nichrome
it;s because the ports are labeling so. switch the port the fans are connected to and they;ll be 1 and 2 :)
Fallemarg
It shouldn't cause any issues to leave them plugged in as they are, will it?
Nichrome
nope, it's just labeling that's is the difference. it doesnt matter if you plug into 1st or 2nd port :) Therefore I did swap mines around as I had 3 and 4 too at first time, just for clear mind I don't have "extra' fans coming from nowhere
