Lady Fitzgerald
I recently received my AX760 PSU. It has a sticker on the top side (the side opposite the fan) I would like to relocate it to a side where it won't show but, since it has the model and serial number on it, I am worried that removing and relocating it would void the warranty. Would it?
wytnyt
ive seen here where mods suggest not removing the sticker if it contains warranty info,i hop this helps
Lady Fitzgerald
ive seen here where mods suggest not removing the sticker if it contains warranty info,i hop this helps Which is why I want to relocate it, not just remove it. This isn't the tiny one over a crew that says removing it will void the warranty.
wytnyt
i think since it has the serial # on it,removing or tampering with it would likely void the warranty as it is with most other devices...
Administrators Technobeard Posted May 10, 2014 Administrators Share Posted May 10, 2014 Do not remove / relocate the sticker. This would void the warranty.
Lady Fitzgerald
Thank you. I'll just have to find a way to hide it that won't damage the sticker. Mayhap carbon film.
Lady Fitzgerald
The more I think about this, the more P.O.ed I'm getting. First, this is the stupid sticker I'm referring to: http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg206/LadyFitzgerald/IMG_0003_zps78c89a26.jpg http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg206/LadyFitzgerald/IMG_0005_zps4067f199.jpg There is nothing on the stupid sticker that says removing it will void the warranty. It does say removing the cover will void the warranty but not the sticker. There is a tiny sticker on the opposite side of the case over a screw that says WARRANTY VOID IF REMOVED. I don't have a problem with that one since it doesn't stick out like a pimple on prom night. If removing the sticker I pictured will void the warranty, why the heck doesn't the darned thing say so? I would have really been upset if I had removed and afterwards found out I had voided the warranty. Why is the S/N number where it is? Why couldn't it and the model number been placed on the end where the power switch is so it could be seen from outside the case the PSU gets installed in? It just seems really stupid to make such a nice looking PSU then mar its appearance with a sticker that supposedly cannot be removed. Frankly, if I can't remove or relocate that idiot sticker, I'm seriously considering returning it and getting another PSU from a manufacturer that's not so anal about its stupid stickers. Who would that be? AFAIK no company will ever allow you to tamper with the serial number and give you RMA service from them in the future.

AFAIK no company will ever allow you to tamper with the serial number and give you RMA service from them in the future. Don't know yet. At least another brand might put the serial number in a less conspicuous location instead of on a humongous, unsightly sticker on top of the case for everyone and their dog to see. And, again, if removing that sticker voids the warranty, why the heck doesn't it say so on the stupid sticker?
Corsair Employees jonnyguru Posted May 12, 2014 Corsair Employees Share Posted May 12, 2014 It'll void the warranty because it has the serial number on it. Not sure of any PSUs that don't have their serial number on the spec sticker off the top of my head, but good luck.
rene mauricio
I am afraid I do. OCZ (now known as FirePower) have them on the side. I would avoid them at all cost if I were you. While some of their products are... acceptable, God help you should you need to deal with Customer Support. I can totally related with the aesthetics of your unit being an issue for you. I have similar OCD tendencies when it comes to my computer as well. I am currently having to deal with a very loud buzzing sound that is louder than a hair clipper with my OCZ unit - all because they have the only modular red LED PSU on the market. I am very ashamed to have it in my 250D but I am looking to go the GS route and make due with the cables. If I were in your shoes I would get a small piece of vinyl wrap and cover it up. We all know Corsair uses third parties such as Flextronics, Seasonic, Channel Well and CoolIT (to name a few). While you could buy a different brand that has the same OEM, you would be missing out on Corsair's trust worthy support. Sure they make take some time to get to you but they are: FriendlyKnowledgeableWilling to keep at it until your issues are resolved which (sadly) I can not say for other brands. If I come off as a Corsair fan-boy it would be because over the years they have made me into one.
Lady Fitzgerald
Actually, I've decided to make shroud to go over the entire PSU and cables all the way down to the third HDD cage I added to my Corsair 650D case and secure it to the PSU with magnetic tape. I might take a picture of the sticker on the side of the case, print it on a label, and stick that on the side of the shroud. Or, I might reproduce the Corsair emblem on a label and follow it with the name Grania (Grania O'Malley was a 16th Century Irish female pirate) and stick that on the shroud. Friction
Dude, just turn the PSU 180 so the sticker is on the bottom of the case and you won't see it.
Lady Fitzgerald
Dude, just turn the PSU 180 so the sticker is on the bottom of the case and you won't see it. So the cables have further to go and the fan faces up, giving the opportunity for screws, etc. to fall into the fan opening and taking away the ability for the PSU to draw in cooler outside air instead of hotter inside air? I don't think so. Besides, I've already made a shroud to cover the PSU and the cables coming out of it. It covers the stupid label and looks much better than leaving the cables exposed.
