hugebychoice
I own a AX760, and purchased it around 12-13 months ago. When I first purchased it I noticed a very very quiet high pitched noise coming from it, and I decided not to take action, since I had, just before purchasing said power supply, returned a dead HX750. I couldn't see any performance issues, and after browsing this forum, decided it was not worth the return hassle. Fast forward to now; 3 Days ago it started making a high pitched noise. This generally does not bother me, since some of my previous PCs have been terribly loud, and I would not have even paid too much attention to it if it didn't affect my sound card (Asus Essence STX) so much. Since that day every person on my teamspeak server has been telling me that a loud whine is coming from my microphone, which gets louder the more intense the application I run is, which has basically left me without being able to talk since then. I have tested the Sound Card in another system, and the whine is not there. I have tested 3 microphones and 3 different pairs of headphones, it still happens. I have tested a different GPU in my system(both amd and Nvidia), and the whine remains. I have unplugged all my HDDs and network card, and the problem still remains. This, imo, leaves the PSU and the motherboard. On the same day that this high pitched PSU noise started, my PC turned off and one of my Corsair RAM Sticks died (tested on MeMTest86+), for which I have already requested an RMA. I have, in the last 3 days, spent 15+ hours trying to find what could be wrong with my computer, and to no avail. Has anyone experienced a similar problem, or is it just time for me to RMA the thing? Thanks in advance! PS: I sadly have no other power supply to test, which is quite frustrating. Also, I do not want to leave the PC on for longer than I must, since I am afraid of more components dying. As a poor Uni student, that would ruin my life  EDIT: Just wanted to add that I have tried everything from the "Noisy PSU" thread, disabling power saving features as well as different GPU drivers. Corsair Employees jonnyguru Posted May 8, 2014 Corsair Employees Share Posted May 8, 2014 Are you actually hearing noise from the PSU or only over your audio devices? You tested your sound card in another PC, but doesn't your motherboard have on board sound that you can use to completely eliminate the sound card? hugebychoice
I am hearing a constant high pitched whine from my power supply, it is loud enough for me to hear when sitting about a meter away from it. The reason I bought a sound card was because the on-board sound is bad, well not bad, but plugging any microphone into it makes it sound pretty dire. I have since tried the on-board sound, where a different pitched whine is also present. Tomorrow morning I might have access to another PSU, so I will report back if it was the PSU that was at fault. Corsair Employees jonnyguru Posted May 9, 2014 Corsair Employees Share Posted May 9, 2014 Ok. If you're actually hearing a whine from the PSU itself, and not just over your audio, then I'd go ahead and get an RMA for that PSU.
hugebychoice
Update: ~2 weeks ago, my ram stops working. ~1 week ago, my sound cards starts producing a weird electrical whine. Somewhere around that time I started paying attention small amount chirping from the PSU I then stopped using my PC. Today, before sending back the RAM, I decide to turn on my PC (with the new RAM), and it instantly shuts off, and emits a terrible burnt smell. Turns out my SSD was fried. Cannot test anything else either because I don't have doubles of anything around anymore. It is very frustrating and I don't know what to do now. Maybe everything in my PC is dead, maybe just the RAM,Sound Card, SSD and PSU. I am rather lost, have no idea what to RMA, have no money to replace anything, and have been unable to use my PC for a while already. I would really appreciate some contact from Corsair. Corsair Employees jonnyguru Posted May 13, 2014 Corsair Employees Share Posted May 13, 2014 I would really appreciate some contact from Corsair. Are you waiting for someone to respond to an existing support ticket or do you need to create a new one? If the latter, you can either submit for a support ticket here: http://corsair.force.com/ Or call: http://www.corsair.com/en-us/company/contact
hugebychoice
Sorry, I should have been more specific, I meant phone contact. Since I am in the UK, I was wondering if there was a UK phone number to call. I have handed in a RMA ticket for my RAM, which I was planning to finally send off today, but will do so tomorrow. My RMA request for the PSU was turned into some sort of question request, so I came on here again to ask for some other contact information. My PC dying is slowly but surely driving me bananas, I apologize for any irrationality. Thanks again jonnyguru
