Beta 2.6.5214 bricked my lighting node...

Of course it had to happen...

So when I updated to the newest Beta, I got the prompt telling me to update my lighting node's firmware. And guess what... even though it told me everything was successful, the node doesn't work anymore; it doesn't show up in the software and the lights are off.

I must say I'm a little disappointed with Link, it's a real cool concept but it's so incredibly poorly executed from the software POV. The hardware seems solid - but the software is one buggy hell of a mess, seriously. It doesn't live up to Corsair's usual top notch quality (and I can say that because my PC has everything from Corsair that they do). The temp based changes don't work properly half of the time, the interface is extremely ugly and laggy, the temp report is buggy as hell, the layout gets all messed up depending on window size, and so many other things. I would say: Please, Corsair, rewrite or give people the means to write their own utilities. Oh, what I would give to have a clean and reliable application to control Link with.

So what now? Is it possible to get the lighting node replaced? Or is it basically my fault for installing beta software...?

Thanks for the help.

since their discontinued a peplacement isnt a option.

try unplugging from the commander and do a full cold boot

then shut off,,trip rear power and wait 30 seconds and connect the light node to a different port.

Nothing :( Thanks anyway.

Since it says in the warranty documents that they'll try to replace a discontinued product, I'll just open a ticket and see what they can do.

Well it seems your not the only one my friend,

Just updated it yesterday and Kaboom the gremlin struck. :(: LIGHTS OUT:(:

It is rather sad to note that if you try to RMA this product for some unforeseen reason it is not listed in the drop down menu's which begs the question, Why? Same goes for if you wish to ask a question, you need to select a product and model but alas, the CC is not in the list.

It is worth noting that I had no issues until the update

I checked Corsairs website and looked up the corsair link lighting node and it seems according to Corsair they have it in stock go figure. However the pic does show the commander module?

What makes me very sad about this is that I was unable to buy this item anywhere In Australia at the time of purchase so it was purchased directly from Corsairs Website. Service was impressive at the time.

Any help would be greatly appreciated:sigh!: Especially from Corsair!

So we're two now. Let's see where this goes.

I just chose a random product for the ticket. What else should we do? I might even call them later this week.

BTW, even though I have this very bad impression of Link now, I must say I'm impressed by Corsair's quality once again. A power surge went through my hometown's grid just now due to a lighting hitting a line somewhere, and my AX PSU handled it perfectly. Everything still running smooth.

Is the lighting node completely dead or is it just not detected by Link? If it's the latter, and you have the H80i or H100i, connect the node to the pump right beneath the mini USB port and restart your system.

Uninstall the the LINK version and install a very very old LINK v2 version. Check the Device list in the firmware updater and see if you can see "Unidentified node" ,confirm it's the Lightning Node that's plugged in.

If it is, reflash the firmware and see if it comes back to life.

It's best to unplug any other LINK nodes just in case you accidentally update the wrong device as the older v2 SW does not contain any kind of FW update protection.

It's not guaranteed to work, but seeing its not working now, worth a try.

Thanks a lot, unfortunately it isn't detected by the old software either. It really got busted apparently.

However, Corsair will replace my lighting node! I got a ticket reply and they will apparently send me a new one soon, which is really nice.

@Obsidian-Glass you might want to try that too. Just choose a random product from the dropdown and ask nicely.

Sorry to hear that Col. You are right on that post, replacing the Commander does not guarantee a fix. What I would suggest is, since the new version is out next month, I would wait for that be released officially so we can send that as a replacement for your current one.

If that is the route that you would like to take, let me know and I will tag your ticket now for future reference. Thanks

Yeah I'll wait out the month for the new version to be released. Just to clarify i'll be sending the entire kit that i purchased which includes the lighting and cooling node as both the lighting and commander have stopped working.
