pathfindercod
I need a psu with atleast 9 video card plugs, 6 eight pin and 3 six pin. Even the new 1500 only has 8 and the piggy tail crap. I really like corsair stuff and grunge moving to another brand.
wytnyt
you may need to go to a dual psu setup.

Corsair Employees jonnyguru Posted May 1, 2014 Corsair Employees Share Posted May 1, 2014 AX1500i has 10 PCIe connectors if you count "the pigtail crap". If you're running that many cards in a single sysyem, I doubt that the pigtails will be much of an issue. The only cards I've seen take issue with pigtails are multi-GPU cards. Yellowbeard
If you are willing to risk your hardware to a Rosewill instead of using a magnificent Corsair PSU, good luck with that. ::pirate::
Corsair Employees jonnyguru Posted May 1, 2014 Corsair Employees Share Posted May 1, 2014 Yes sir a few. Rosewill Hercules for one.. Actually, the Rosewill Hercules also has eight PCIe cables. The difference being that they're ALL pigtail, so you have a total of 16 connectors. You'd essentially be in the same boat.

I am not wanting to abandon corsair at all, just saying what do i do!? :( If Corsair believes the 1500i will do the trick for me Ill be all over it. Yep. 3 fixed cables. 3 modular cables. Each with two PCIe connectors "pigtail" style. Seriously, unless you're running one cable to a single 295X, using the pigtail is going to be fine. pathfindercod
Thank you johnnyguru. YellowBeard I absolutely love all your products, own MANY corsair products. Wasn't questioning the product, just need a PSU that can handle my load :)
rjbarker
^^^^ With the kind of set-up you're getting into...as in 3 Kingpins, likely on water and OC'd to phenominal levels...including OC'd 4960X (4.8 - 5 Ghz), I would also assume everything running on a fairly robust WC Loop, lots of fans etc................ ........certainly I would consider a 2nd PSU, even to just share the load of those GPU's...then you could comfortably step the intitial PSU down to either a 1200i or even 860i.... Thats the problem with those GPU's having 3 pci-e connectors...what Board are you using...if its a RIVE (maybe RIVBE is the same)...dont forget the additional 6 Pin power cable to the Board ! ...that would get you requiring 10 pci-e 6 or 6+2 Pin connectors..... I know with my present Rig...I'm using every single output on my AX1200....I have one spare PCI-e cable and am using the other for my Board...if I get a 3rd 780Ti, I need to rig up a hokey looking Moles to pci-e adpater for the additional power to the Board....I noticed the new 1500i will be have the extra pci-e cables for my needs though ;)
Corsair Employees jonnyguru Posted May 1, 2014 Corsair Employees Share Posted May 1, 2014 I don't believe he's going to require two PSUs to run three of those cards.
