dustyk
Hey guys. Having just installed the h80i I am liking it pretty well. I dont think I like the LINK software though. My question is can I unplug the USB cable from the cooler to the MB? Ever since I have installed this, my USB headset goes in and out when I am connected to TS3. By in and out I mean it acts like its being unplugged and plugged back in. It could be total coincidence but I was thinking the Cooler might be pulling to much power. Just a thought though as it really only happens when connected to TS3
HOODedAssault
You can run it without the link software with no issue. The LED color will default to white tho and you will have to control fans with either your motherboard or fan controller. This is what I did when I had my h100i. Never even tried to LINK software before.
Latharion
The "i" series remembers the last fan speed profile set by the user (or factory default if not set by the user). This means the fans can be connected to the H80i and it will control them as specified by the preferences set by the user, even if the software isn't running. A user can, for instance, install and run the software once to set up the H80i to their preference, then disconnect the USB and uninstall the software, and it will behave the way it was set up. This includes the LED. A user also has the option of connecting the fans to a third party fan controller, and the system will function this way perfectly as well. The pump is designed to run at full speed 100% of the time so with or without the software, the pump will function the same.
dustyk
Thanks guys. I tried running the fans off the MB but it couldnt control them or I dont have something right. They want to run at 100% all the time. I plugged the Link back up for now. I also updated the software to the beta version and it seems my USB disconnects have all but disappeared. This doesnt really mean anything though as I have no proof it was the software. I am looking for a controller as I want to control my case fans as well. Just not sure which one to get yet as I would like to be able to set it and it not me a manual job everytime I need the fans to do something.
