inputoutput
Hello Internet. I have a question as the title clearly mentions but I'm not sure if the H100i would fit in the SPEC-03. Looking at the mounts, I don't see why it wouldn't fit and the top fan mounts are even offset which would help the H100i fit better and not get in the way of the motherboard. But Corsair doesn't list it as compatible either, which is very strange. Please can someone confirm if it would or wouldn't fit. Thanks for your help in advance :)
RocketPuppy
It isn't officially supported, and it depends upon your motherboard, but I've seen a few reviewers fit an h100i in there. Its real tight and it either needs to be put in before the MB or done extremely carefully after installing the MB. Edit: I wouldn't count on it fitting at the top. Digging a little deeper it looks like most motherboards won't leave enough room. You can however sacrifice the HDD tray/bays and mount an h100i on the front. I planed on going with the MSI Z87-G45 Gaming mobo. Would that leave enough room?
RocketPuppy
I planed on going with the MSI Z87-G45 Gaming mobo. Would that leave enough room? Review with a Cooler Master Seidon mounted http://www.overclock3d.net/reviews/cases_cooling/corsair_carbide_spec_01_03_review/6 There is no way for me to know what motherboards will allow a top-mounted 240mm radiator without actually trying to put one in myself. My advice: If you are willing to spend $100+ on a CPU cooler, then spend an extra $50-$70 for a nice case that is guaranteed to fit it. The SPEC cases are extreme low-end cases designed for budget builds, and they are fantastic cases for the price. However if you plan on throwing non-budget parts in it, just suck it up and pay for a nicer case. The nicer layout, cooling, disk mounting options, and better cable routing are worth the money for a nice case. Remember that every time you work on the computer that the case is what is going to determine the ease of doing so. I can do a full basic installation into the Obsidian series cases in about a half hour. That includes CPU, MB, CPU Cooler, Disk Drives, PSU, GPU, and some very basic cable routing (doing proper cable routing can take another half hour to an hour later, but I'm pretty obsessive about keeping things looking as perfect as possible). By contrast it will take me over an hour to do a full basic install in cheaper budget cases, they aren't laid out as nicely, there isn't as much room to do things in, cable management is a trial and error thing, and there aren't as many options to route cables. I'm not claiming anyone can install stuff that quickly either, I've put a lot of computers together and have a system down for doing so.
