Corsai
Hi, So from what i've been reading, my fan should go to 0 RPM mode when not under any heavy load. I know that I still use some power in idle, but my fan spins from the moment I turn on my pc, to the moment I turn it off. My specs are: 3770k @4.2 (ran at 3.5 stock as well for a while) 16Gb ram (2*8) Gtx 770 (4gb) 2 SSD's 1 HDD H100i with 4x 120mm fans 1x 140mm fan in the back 2x 140mm fans in the front a fan controller a dvd writer From what i've read: The Corsair RM650 is fully modular and optimized for silence and high efficiency. It’s built with low-noise capacitors and transformers, and Zero RPM Fan Mode ensures that the fan doesn’t even spin until the power supply is under heavy load. And with a fan that’s custom-designed for low noise operation, it’s whisper-quiet even when it’s pushed hard. It's always very audible, I think the loudest component in my build. Is this a defect? Corsai
around 18°c constant, nothing strange. Other components are at a fine temperature as well.
Corsair Employee jonnyguru Posted April 22, 2014 Corsair Employee Share Posted April 22, 2014 That's nice and cool, that's for sure. Sounds like a defective fan controller, which, when there's a failure, keeps the fan moving as opposed to stopping the fan altogether to prevent damage to other components. With your configuration and ambient temps, that fan should NOT be spinning. I'd get an RMA.
