abc_321
I have recently purchased a new Vengeance C70 case, and I am having HX Series HX750 Power Supply. Now I know this question might sound a lit beginner, but I am not sure which direction should I install the power supply unit. Should the fan be pointing upwards or downwards? :sigh!: From what I have seen in videos, other users install it so that the fan of the PSU is face down pointing to the bottom of the case, but wouldn't this make the unit just blow air into the ground? Suggestions will be highly appreciated. EDIT: Power Supply http://cwsmgmt.corsair.com/media/catalog/product/h/x/hx750_psu_topview_1_1.png Should the fan be facing upwards in the below case? http://www.hardwareheaven.com/reviewimages/corsair-vengeance-c70-case/corsair-vengeance-c70-case_inside.jpg
deees
The fan is a intake. The choose is probably more esthetic that anything else. Some people prefer the fan facing up, (partially because of the lettering.) It does increase the risk of damage if you drop something, like a screw, into the PSU. Pointed down, it's drawing air from the outside the case and should theoretically ensure cooler air, and won't contribute to negative case air pressure. It unlikely you could measure the performance different between the methods.
Mem11
I have the same case and fan and installed the HX750 with the fan pointed down. As Deees explained, it's an intake fan so, that will allow cooler outside air to flow through the PSU, rather than warmer air from inside the case. Mine's been working that way for over a year. Every review/recommendation I saw before installing the HX750 inside the C70 was to point the fan down and that would be my suggestion.
