H110 + overheating CPU. Worked perfect before.

I bought my H110 about a month and a half ago and everything was perfect. 30 degree idle's with a 4.5ghz overclock on my 2600k. It was working perfectly fine last night. I turned my computer on this morning and the fans went nuts for about 15 seconds. It turned out that my cpu had been hitting 90-95 degree temps. I turned the computer off, unplugged everything and drained the power from the supply, I then took the case off and I could smell something possibly smoking?

Everything was perfect with the H110 up until now. I've never had any issues with it and this problem seems to have come out of the blue. I was watching the CPU temp on my bios and it starts at 35 and gradually works it's way to very high numbers, in the 80's/90's. The fans are working and I can hear the water I move when I power up my PC.

I removed the block from the CPU and the paste has set in, I also re-seated it and screwed it back down. The problem still persists. Anyone got any insight?

Thanks.

I may have found the problem. I don't think the block is actually pumping water properly. I tried plugging the blocks power into 3 different headers on my motherboard, I couldn't hear or feel it pumping the water in the loop. It was silent and the water seemed still. Usually when I turn my computer on I can hear the water starting to flow.

Pump is likely dead in that case. If you don't see any pump rpm in bios I would request rma.

An rma is fine, but what's to stop it happening again? I don't want another H110 to arrive only to have it die in the next month; is there any official Corsair input? Was I just unlucky and received a faulty product? Or is this a regular occurrence?

Also. Since the smoking incident. My bios is only showing 4gb ram. I really hope this is just a mishap since my motherboard has removed over-clocks. I hope 4gb of my ram hasn't shorted out because of this.

theres no possibility the hydro could have messed up a ram module,,if a chip is indeed bad,,its likely an OC screwup what does your bios say for memory reference>?

very similar to what happened to me.

the problem was air in the system and clogged cooling plate.

try to give a few taps on the tubing and you probably will see the temps go down as the air moves away from the cooling plate.

I tried giving it a few taps and moving the wires about, no joy sadly. My motherboard is showing the fan is spinning at 7000 rpm though.

Sorry of the mobile link. I'm using my phone.

I'm using the chassis fan 2 header to power the block, and my motherboard is still showing 4gb ram. I'm getting CPU fan error on my motherboard info screen too.

I used the ai tweaker on my motherboard to overclock.

I detached the water block and shook the life out of it. Currently everything is working normally and I have my 30 degree idle temps in the desktop. My ram is also fine. I don't really know how the water went stagnant in the loop but I really hope it doesn't happen again.

Would it be safe to turn the CPU fan error off so I can apply my overclock again?
