maheson
Hello! I am using Corsair VS Series VS650 (650W High Performance Power Supply) for over 12 months now. Recently, I am experiencing an issue of system rebooting randomly quite often. This happens every time when there is a low voltage(below 190V) current. Earlier I was assuming the issue to be with the UPS(APC UPS Pro 1500) but the issue persists even after a replacing it. System configuration - MOtherboard DH77KC, Processor - Intel® Core™ i7-3770K. Please help. Thanks!
Corsair Employee jonnyguru Posted April 14, 2014 Corsair Employee Share Posted April 14, 2014 Why is your voltage dropping as low as 190V? The VS isn't made for that.
maheson
So is this merely due to the input voltage rating then? If so, is there any workaround than replacing the PSU itself? Thanks!
Corsair Employee jonnyguru Posted April 15, 2014 Corsair Employee Share Posted April 15, 2014 Well, the lower the AC input voltage, the higher the current. The VS is made to operate at full load with 230VAC. The lower that AC voltage is, the less capable the PSU will support higher loads. Your input voltage shouldn't be 190V. If you had a better UPS, one with voltage regulation, you'd be fine. But a more expensive UPS isn't a practical solution when you already have a fairly decent unit. So if you can't address the reason why your AC voltage is dropping so much (poor wiring, something with a large motor on the same circuit, etc.) then the best solution is going to be a PSU that accepts a wider range of input voltages... like the CX series.
