TimK
Hello I've just bought and tried to install new memory but when I install it, I get no display (the screen gets no signal from the graphics card). With the old memory all is fine. Next thing I did, I've updated to the last BIOS edition (BIOS 1102) but I had no luck either. (the new RAM is working fine on other systems, I've checked this already). the old memory I'm using: 3 chips of 2048 MB Corsair TR3X6G1600C9 9-9-9-24 1600 Mhz 1.65V ver 8.1 3934425 09072544 the new one: 2 chips of 4GB Corsair Vengeance CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9B 9-9-9-24 1600 Mhz 1.50V ver 4.23 349736 141005835 I performed also a CMOS reset, plugged one of the new ram chips on B2 slot (and also tried other slots) but the problem persists: I get no display on my screen. (Yes I have a speaker, it doesn't bleep. I think the computer is booting, but without sending signal to the screen). In ASUS forums, they've told me that the memory is incompatible and they proposed me to replace the ram kit with another kit. The local store's tech support insisted that the RAM that they sold me is compatible with my motherboard and they also said that there are no incompatibility issues as long as the specs match. Please, can you confirm that Corsair Vengeance CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9B kit is incompatible with my motherboard and propose me some other corsair kit? Thanks in advance
rozp89
Hi there, Did you manage to find a solution? I'm trying to find 16gb RAM for the same board, nightmare! Asus weren't very helpful - their customer support chap gave me information that contradicted their own specification on the website that he subsequently pointed me to... -,- Rosanna
rozp89
Also, latest BIOS for that board is 2105 i think?
rozp89
AND, from what I have read elsewhere, only the orange slots will support up to 1600mhz, so if you're running all 4 modules then you'll have to downclock all to 1333. try that after latest bios update. Yellowbeard
You have to read between the lines so to speak on the chipset specs. http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P5Q3/specifications/ Memory 4 x DIMM, Max. 16 GB, DDR3 1800(O.C.)/1600/1333/1066 Non-ECC,Un-buffered Memory This chipset will not work with 8GB modules. The max it can take is 4GB modules. That said, not all 4GB modules will work due to IC density meaning old memory controllers can't always deal with newer modules. If there is nothing in our memory finder stating compatibility, then you may be out of luck. You'll probably have to find some older memory made with ICs. TimK
Hi there, Did you manage to find a solution? I'm trying to find 16gb RAM for the same board, nightmare! Asus weren't very helpful - their customer support chap gave me information that contradicted their own specification on the website that he subsequently pointed me to... -,- Rosanna Hi Rosanna Corsair's tech support recommended CMX8GX3M2B1333C9 but the shop (which didn't had that model :-( :-( :-( ) replaced my ram withG.Skill F3-10666CL8D-4GBECO DDR3L-1333 CL8-8-8-24 1.35V PC3L -10666 2Gx2 Intel XMP Ready (4X2gb ram, total of 8gb ram). But the one kit had ram chips only on one side (they had the same specs, numbers, serials etc... that wasn't too bright G.Skill dudes...) so I couldn't boot with that kit and I'm waiting for a new replacement. I strongly recommend you to register to corsair tech support console (not just the forum) and ask them any questions you have, they have great support.
