Rockzz
Hello, Well, here is the issue: I bought a new, no second hand, Corsair AX650 power supply two years ago. For 6 months now, it has the following issue: - A short push on the PC power button won't anymore power on the PC - When the PC is powered on, a long push on the power button still powers it off - I switched the PSU with another one, and the PC powers on normally, so it's not a power cable, motherboard or inner cables issue it seems - When the power cable is wired to the wall outlet, I see this in the PSU from behind the PC: - > When the PC is powered off: a red led is switched on, still, not blinking - > When I manage to get the PSU powering on: the red led isn't anymore, and one or two blue leds are switched on, still, not blinking - > When the PC is totally booted up, say after a 15 minutes usage, I have no idea when it happens: no led seems to be switched on nor blinking inside the PSU In the past, I already experienced dying PSUs (this is why I banked as much as I could on a reliable part, this is my first Corsair product), forcing the user to press the power button multiple times before getting the PSU to power on, then after some weeks, this tweak becoming uneffective the more the piece is dying. Here, this does not happen: once I manage to get the PSU booted up, it provides power well, I get no BSODs nor problems when playing 3D games with a power demanding old ATI HD4850. Since the PSU is causing problems, I exceptionally let the PC powered on for a week and more, and it's rock stable. I'm not overclocking my system, I didn't open the PSU a single time nor removed its sticker. How I do manage to get the PSU booting when I need to ? I have to create some kind of short-circuit with the power cable, removing it from the back of the PC, then getting it slightly in contact with the PSU connector, and once I see the blue LED and that I hear the electricity crackling, I put the cable deep inside the connector, and PSU stays powered on, getting the PC to boot up finally. Since this seems dangerous for me and hardware, I just did this like 5 or 6 times on the faulty hardware, until I got a new no-name PSU to switch on temporarily. Specific infos : - Bought in France to a web vendor (LDLC), a "Made in China" sticker is on the PSU by the way (well, it seems normal: for sale in EU, but manufactured elsewhere) - Lot code (S/N format: <letter><digit><digit><digit><digit><letter>..): 1109 I'll wait a few days before requesting an RMA: this part was bought 60-80 euros, so I'm not very confortable into spending 30 euros, half its value, for sending it from France to Netherlands, except if Corsair, once it validates the RMA request, stands responsible for its product line from home to.. home :) Thanks for advices
Rockzz
Within people having a defective part of this product, it seems we are many to have the same exact issue (I just listed within the forums first page, there's likely more occurences in further ones): - http://forum.corsair.com/forums/showthread.php?t=127888 - http://forum.corsair.com/forums/showthread.php?t=118702 - http://forum.corsair.com/forums/showthread.php?t=127644
Rockzz
Hi, since that time, I thought the issue was due to some misfit between the PSU and my motherboard. But this is not. 15 days ago, I moved from LGA 775 to LGA 1151 : all is new, the place is new, the wall electrical outlet is too. But the exact same issue still happens with the PSU. I'm doing the above trick for 2.5 years now (unpplugging the rear and making a slow and gentle contact with cable, in order to power on the computer): it's time to set me free bad single-eye Corsair :D My old back hurts much. The item is still under warranty, and now that I'm 100% sure the defect is on the PSU, I wish to express-RMA it. This model is not available for sale anymore I guess, so i was not offered to choose "Express RMA" and to give my credit card info, through your support UI. I'm willing to do so, since I'm out and unable to use the computer without that critical part. Waiting for weeks or months for the defect to be asserted (the video I bring - see after - is obvious for that subject) by Corsair and insurance company is not an option. (striked through) Consequently, could a Corsair representative please help me to achieve a decent RMA process? (/striked through) --> I just got in touch with a Corsair support mate on chat, and he told me to create an RMA request anyway, because the "standard" RMA is the only mode proposed when creating a ticket, and that only after, once approved, the ticket can be asked to be managed through another RMA mode ("express", other). I've the ticket info + proof of purchase + a live Youtube video of the defect, here in my pocket. Let me know, and I'll follow your instruction to forward you this. Thanks in advance.
