x3n0n1c
Wanted to share a bit of my bad luck. This relates to the fan connectors that connect to the PWN fan headers that come out of the H100i pump. There is a really simple, yet serious design flaw in these headers. This flaw is the fact that there is no plastic shroud around the pins, leaving them completely exposed. These pins have power going through them at all times, and if they touch anything around them they will fry the components they come in contact with. Because these wires are so short, the connection between these headers and the fan connectors is very close to being over the motherboard itself. In my case, I was using a well worn but trusty fan off of one of these connectors that over time has lost a lot of it's ability to solidly hold onto a fan header. Long story short, when I removed the side panel of my case, the connection moved, the fan connector separated from the header coming from the H100i, causing the header to fall and touch one of the chips on my motherboard. Motherboard was fried instantly with a nice loud crack. Luckily I explained this to the store I bought it from and seeing the poor design decision from Corsair, they allowed me to exchange both my board, and the H100i. Corsair, fix this issue in your future products, or at least make these cables longer so you can more easily get them away from the motherboard. Other users, I hope you learn from me and consider putting a little electrical tape on these connections just in case. Cheers.
Latharion
That is the reason the PWM connectors come with removable plastic sleeves, fooling some into thinking the connectors are female connectors and not male connectors (and yes, I am one of those fools). It is prudent to leave those sleeves on unused connectors for safety.

It is prudent to leave those sleeves on unused connectors for safety. This is a recent change that only affect newer I series coolers. I went through 2 H80I coolers and none of them came with plastic end caps to cover the pins. The only difference was the corrections to the manual indicating what accessories came in the box. Latharion
I hadn't heard about that change. Some users a little while back were confused by the caps. That may be the reason for their exclusion from newer i series coolers. Thanks for the update.
