Alloneword
My PSU is a HX750 with a brand new Asus Z87 motherboard, i7 4770K, and 16GB of RAM started of with this ram first, http://www.Crucial.com/eu/store/partspecs.aspx?imodule=CT2KIT102464BA160B then this was replaced with this one http://www.Crucial.com/eu/store/mpartspecs.aspx?mtbpoid=19B2C416A5CA7304 I also run 2 Samsung 840 Pro SSD's and in a nutshell nothing else in inline apart from usb mouse and keyboard. However from day one this build has had the same problem and that problem is before i can get windows installed and updated to SP1 then updated via windows updates it will reboot and freeze and what i mean by this is the KB and mouse that are plugged in to the USB 2.0 sockets fail to give any power to the USB mouse or KB, i say this because KB wont boot using ctrl/alt/del or even the windows key is dead and my MS intelimouse red laser is not alight so as you can see no power is my guess, i have even tried them in usb3 sockets but there dead as well, I have gone through 4 Motherboards, 2 lots of ram and it's still doing the damm same thing, I am now in the process of replacing the CPU but other then the PSU i can't see it being anything else, has anyone heard of this kind of issue before? Could it be my PSU is not supported by the 4th gen Haswell chip, or any other suggestions you may have would be more then welcome. All1
jlhawn
are the motherboards installed in the case when this is happening? if so try running everything with the motherboard removed from the case and sit it on a piece of cardboard and power it up. the reason I say try this, is because a friend of mine had a similar problem and it was the panel that the motherboard rear connections go through in the case. I think it's called the io panel? yes? it took it awhile but it seemed the panel was causing the board to sit oddly in the case and when warmed up it would act up. don't know why but if he removed that panel the problem was gone, and he contacted asus and they shipped him another panel and it seems to have worked fine as no more issue. WesternDreaming
im sorry to sound so simple.. but i have read of all the hardware changes u made, except 2.. have you tried another PSU? have you tried different mice and keyboards? id just like a confirmation that it isn't hardware so i can think about this
Corsair Employee jonnyguru Posted April 2, 2014 Corsair Employee Share Posted April 2, 2014 I can't fathom how/why this would be a PSU problem. Keyboard and mouse use +5V just like your RAM and other components of the motherboard. And why wouldn't it do it during the initial installation of Windows? The PSU doesn't have a separate power lead just for your keyboard and mouse. ;): Yeah... there's +5VSB, but as soon as the PSU is told to switch on by the motherboard, the +5VSB rail shuts off and the +5V rail takes over (which is why you sometimes hear a loud click when you power on and off). When you swapped the motherboard and RAM after this started happening, did you reinstall Windows? Because if one of those two parts were bad to begin with, you may have a corrupt install. Yes it's always in the case with a bit of hassle i can run it from outside of the case so i will give that a go later tonight and post back and see what the deal is. im sorry to sound so simple.. but i have read of all the hardware changes u made, except 2.. have you tried another PSU? have you tried different mice and keyboards? id just like a confirmation that it isn't hardware so i can think about thisNo don't have a spare PSU here but i am going out today to buy another just to give that a go, i have tried 2 other KB and 2 other mice and still getting the same problems. Yes everytime i got new board or RAM it was a fresh instal of windows, I'm not saying it is the PSU i'm just saying i'm running out of things to change, when you take the BARE system the only things that have not changed are the CPU and PSU according to Amazon CPU will be here on Friday but i'll be going out and buying another PSU today just to give it a go afater all what do i have to loose? Alloneword
Well to update this, EVERYTHING has been changed except RAM (manf) I will be buying some "TeamGroup" RAM in a few minutes so we will see what that does, I am running on another PSU right now and it's been stable all day and i have got further then ever before, installed windows, updated to SP1, installed LAN driver, updated windows via "Windows Update" installed all the other drivers for the board (chipset/audio/bluettoth/wifi etc) and it's still solid, This is what has been changed over so far: 5 x Asus Z87 Motherboards 2 x Intel Core i7 4770K 2 x Crucial 16GB RAM 4 x Samsung 840 Pro's SSD's 2 USB Mouses 2 x USB Keyboards Motherboard brass stand offs Motherboard washers Motherboard screws Updated to latest bios Memtest has been ran on RAM and it's fine Mains cable to PSU changed twice Ran outside case for 10 hours and was fine up till that point then after rebooting it failed again. I am willing to try anything to find the problem, right now there is nothing left to change AFAIK, if you know anything else i can try let me know i'm on a spare PSU now and everything is fine so far but i have thought that before only for it too bite me in the ****, so not counting my chickens just yet. Corsair Employee jonnyguru Posted April 7, 2014 Corsair Employee Share Posted April 7, 2014 Weird. I suppose there could be a problem with the relay that switches the +5V with the +5VSB. Maybe once the keyboard or mouse driver loads after the initial install. Bizarre. Can't say I've seen this one before.

Ditto m8 NEVER see or even heard of this kind of problem, but since last post even more parts have been replaced and i'm still getting the same issue, was going to ask for RMA tonight but can't gain access to the portal for some reason, but the PSU is the only thing it can be, everything else has been replaced even the damm screws and motherboard posts so RMA is the only option from my POV.
