andersharrison
Just had my AX860 delivered today, removed my old PSU and hooked up the new one. Switched on the PSU, motherboard green power light is on, but when I press the power button on my case, nothing happened. If I hook up the old PSU, the computer powers on fine. I've tried the AX860 with just the 24-pin and the 8-pin cables connected to the motherboard. Is there anything else I can try before I return it? andersharrison
After much hunting for a paper clip, I followed the instructions here and the thing won't power on :( http://www.corsair.com/en-us/blog/2011/may/testing-your-corsair-power-supply Back to Amazon it goes. What a pain.
sauria
I have the same question, so when you try to test it with that method nothing happened?
Corsair Employee jonnyguru Posted March 31, 2014 Corsair Employee Share Posted March 31, 2014 Since the fan in the AX860i stays off until you're under considerable load, I assume that you hooked an external fan to one of the Molex connectors, as shown in the article, and it too didn't spin when you used the paper clip? I also changed the fan switch on the PSU to normal from hybrid, which I thought would mean the PSU fan would spin, but perhaps not? Mine is the AX860, not the digital i model. I have the new one now, courtsey of Amazon. Just about the install :) I've noticed that the manual and box say it should have 6 x PCI-E Cable 8 PIN (6+2). However, this and the previous one only came with 4?
Corsair Employee jonnyguru Posted April 3, 2014 Corsair Employee Share Posted April 3, 2014 Duh... I was thinking AX860i and forgot about the Hybrid switch on the non-i version. Sorry. Two of the cables should have two PCIe power connectors on it.

Are these dual cables okay to use with a graphics card that needs 200 watts plus, e.g. my 7950 requires a 6 pin and an 8 pin?
Corsair Employee jonnyguru Posted April 3, 2014 Corsair Employee Share Posted April 3, 2014 Up to 300W cards you're fine. I wouldn't use one with a card that needs two 8-pins, though. ;):
