M65 Laser Tracking Issue - Defective?

I'm having a tracking issue with my M65 mouse and think the laser sensor may be defective. It has never worked properly. When moving the mouse around, the tracking speed varies from normal to not at all. It is especially noticeable when changing directions. After lifting the mouse and putting it down again, it tracks properly for a few seconds and then slows again nearly to a stop. I have tried updating to the latest firmware and adjusting the settings in the software, but I keep having the same issues. Has anyone else had these issues? Is my mouse defective?

Thanks,

Dan

I have tried it on a gaming mouse pad (Steel Series ,fabric, black) and on the desktop directly. It has the same symptoms on both, although the surface quality test in the software has better results directly on the desktop. I have been using my old Logitech MX1100 laser mouse and it works fine on both the mouse pad and the desktop.

Any other ideas?

Thanks,

Dan

I have had the exact same issue, and have gone through all of the troubleshooting methods brought up by other users such as lift height, using different surfaces, trying a different mouse. Everything is pointing to this few month old mouse being defective. Only works after picking up the mouse for a few seconds and placing it back down, and then only for a couple of seconds before degrading into total in-operational. Very frustrating.
