110% efficiency on AX760i

Got an AX760i for my new build and after some minor problems (more on that later) getting Corsair Link to run it's going and monitoring everything. The only thing that seems strange at the moment is that it's apparently generating power under load

At minimal use (like now) I'm seeing 120w in and 106w out for around 88% efficiency. However, if I run a Prime95 or similar and load it up the efficiency actually jumps above 100%. The power fluctuates a lot more than at minimal but I'm saying ~150w in and ~170w out for about 110% efficiency.

Any idea why and how can that be reported more accurately?

As for the minor problems - upon install Corsair Link wouldn't detect or display the PSU. Uninstalled, reinstalled, got beta version... same problem. Noticed that the "Corsair Link USD Dongle" in Device Manager was not properly recognised (despite the driver being installed). Did a driver update through device manager and it recognised the driver and the PSU appeared.

Might be worth adding a FAQ item along those lines.

Hi. I am not sure I'd be worried about any efficiency calculations produced by this type of system. It's certainly not a laboratory grade piece of instrumentation and I am not sure if Corsair even specifies a target level of accuracy for the system.

IMHO, I'd use the readings as baseline and watch for any trends that may result over time.

Then again, you may have discovered the first evidence of perpetual motion device :D: (JK, of course)

If only it were true... Use Corsair PSUs and generate power! :)

My main concern is that a big selling point of the "i" series is that it's possible to monitor power. So if the power monitoring is inaccurate I may as well have saved myself the money and bought an AX760 instead. Not concerned if it's a couple watts out, but this seems too big a discrepancy.

Hi.

On the hardware level, the accuracy of the PSU at AC loads < 1A is .25A, which is admittedly horrible.

We're working on correcting this low load inaccuracy via software and hope to have a new version out soon that corrects the 100%+ efficiency readings.

Fortunately, the DC measurements and the AC voltage measurements are much more accurate, so it should not be too difficult to fix the issue working backwards from those readings.
