PC down

Recommended Posts

In the almost 3 months I have had my current PC I have had a few problems here and there, mainly on the build phase of it but after that it was pretty much flawless. However I was just surfing the web and playing a game at the same time and my computer randomly shuts off. By shut off I mean it just went from running fine to off in a millisecond.

The first thought that came to mind was that my CPU overheated, after looking through my case I don't believe that was the problem, my H100i tubes were cool, the radiator was cool as well as the water block. My second thought was that the PSU blew, I think it is the best odds for what happened, the computer will not turn on or show any signs of life. Unfortunately I don't have a back-up PSU easily accessible to swap and find out for sure, is there any other way to check it?

It is the Corsair RM650 fully modular PSU, my 2nd one since I bought the parts in 12/2013, the first blew on the initial power up after build completion.

Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

I borrowed a cable tester and plugged the cable from the PSU to the mobo into the appropriate slot and tried it out of the case and nothing came on. I tried the same with a spare PSU out of a different PC and it worked, just to make sure the tester worked.

I went ahead and started the RMA process through corsair, hopefully it get taken care of as I'm without a gaming PC until it gets fixed.
