Corsair K70 Backlight not working

People think this is going to be like every other LED thread. Where people end up bashing corsair. But it's not.

I bought my K70 April 25th of 2013. And it has been hands down the number one keyboard I've ever used. I've NEVER had a problem with this keyboard, in fact I am using it to type this post.

I am a dedicated gamer, logging 50+ hours a week. This means I eat, sleep, drink and live at my desk. We all know people should not eat or drink near a keyboard.

Well about 2 weeks ago it happened.

I always keep my cup in front of my keyboard. Thinking that it will never get spilled when it is in front of the keyboard. Wrong. I reached forward to tilt my monitor, since it had been moved by my cat rubbing on it. When I drew my hand away from the monitor I knocked over the glass of coke, right into my keyboard.

Instant panic ensued. It was as if your infant child had just fallen into a pool that was too deep. I immediately unplugged it as fast as I could.

Now in the moments after I unplugged it I was just sitting at my desk with sweaty palms, weak knees and small sobs, wondering if everything was going to be okay.

I knew it was my fault. I had to do what had to be done. I took it apart.

Before anyone gets angry because I took it apart, let me be clear that I understood directly that I MYSELF spilled something in the K70 and that I was responsible for fixing and replacing it.

Anyway I took it apart. And poured out the coke knowing that it would be a bigger sticky mess if I left it. After that I cleaned every soldered connection I could find. I used 91% Isopropyl alcohol. At that point I noticed something very odd. A small burn mark on the small circuit board that has the USB passthrough on it. Almost as if it had been hit with liquid, then shorted out. This struck me as odd, since I didn't use the USB passthrough often.

After I let it dry out for a week I reassembled it and plugged it in. That's when my heart sank. no backlighting.

This is where you people might be able to help.

SO on the k70 there are 3 buttons on the very top, one that controls back lighting brightness, one for windows key lock, and the Zone backlighting custom key chooser magic back light thing button. well the Zone backlighting custom key chooser magic back light button was lit up. And was the only think lit up at all. The brightness button doesn't light up (nor does it light the other keys up). And the windows key lock doesn't light up, nor does it lock the windows keys. Also it is worth noting here that the media keys do not light up or work anymore (with exception to the volume wheel that works great). But every single key that has a character on it works.

Here's a diagram to what I'm talking about

This stumps me, and I can come up with only a few conclusions. Somebody who knows more about this please fill me in. There are 2 different circuit boards in this keyboard, that connect via ribbon cable and some other plug pin and hole style connection. Something is wonky in this area, because the volume wheel works, and the media keys don't, which I assume are both connected to the smaller 2nd circuit board. (which as you remember had the burn mark on it from an obvious electric malfunction after i spilled coke in it.)

SOMEBODY please just answer me these 3 questions.

1. Can I buy the smaller circuit board separately and replace it myself? Will this solve the problem?

2.IF no to #1 What seems to be the area, or part that is broken? (some kind of back light control magic circuit?)

3. Should I just buy a new one?
